President 'Disingenuous' When He Says GOP Has No Alternative to Obamacare

(CNSNews.com) - President Barack Obama is being "disingenuous" when he says Republicans have no alternative to Obamacare, says Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.), a man with a plan of his own. "The president knows that there are other alternatives out there, alternatives that put patients and families and doctors in charge, not Washington, D.C.," Price told Fox News's Neil Cavuto on Wednesday.

"Our proposal, H.R. 2300, is comprehensive legislation that would get folks covered with insurance that they want to buy for themselves, not that the government forces them to buy; solves insurance challenges, like portability and preexisting (conditions); and saves hundreds of billions of dollars, does all of that without raising your taxes a penny and doesn't put Washington in charge of a thing.

"There are wonderful, positive alternatives. To have the president continue to say that (there are no alternatives) is just not true, and he knows it's disingenuous when he says it."

Price re-introduced his legislation -- The Empowering Patients First Act -- on June 6. (He previously sponsored the Empowering Patients First Act in the 111th and 112th Congresses as H.R. 3400 and H.R. 3000, respectively.)

Among other things, H.R. 2300 would repeal the Affordable Care Act and replace it with a plan that includes tax incentives for maintaining health insurance coverage (no individual mandate).

Price's plan would allow the purchase of health insurance with pre-tax dollars; it would provide grants to each state to provide coverage through a high-risk pool; it would allow small business owners to band together across state lines to purchase health coverage for their families and employees at a lower cost; and it would allow insurers licensed to sell policies in one state to offer them to residents of any other state. It also proposes to lower costs through malpractice reform...

I don't see a thing wrong with the health care that we had 20 years ago. If you were broke you could still get into a hospital. Your cost would get paid as a sir charge on everyone’s bill. It worked that way for years. Of course you would get a lot of mail from the hospital. That was one reason that the emergency room was always crowded.

This is slightly off-topic, but we've been reading all these news items about how the government is hiring thousands of people and spending hundreds of millions of dollars to implement Obamacare. This is because the law is so complex that the ordinary person does not know what they are required to do, what their options are, or what the penalties are if they are found to be VIOLATING THE LAW.

Yet the same defenders of Obamacare claim that voter ID laws - which are incomparably easier to comply with, and which require no special bureaucracy to implement - place an undue burden on voters, to the point that the burden is UNCONSTITUTIONAL. Does anyone see any hypocrisy in that?

He sure left some squishy room at the bottom though:

“.....I believe that the administration is going to recognize, once they see that the rollout of these exchanges on October 1 isn’t going to work well, I believe that it’s very possible that the administration will say, look, why don’t we delay this a year?

“And we would say, that sounds like a good idea to us. It’s what we have been calling for. And we may actually be able to do this in a bipartisan way, which certainly would be welcome to the American people.”

I don’t think I like the idea of all of the politicians putting this off until they are all safely Re-elected in 2014 at all! Too much room for bait and switch after the election.

If this guy’s lips are moving, he is lying. Of course, the media never calls him on it.

Maybe not, but they system we had, while certainly not perfect, worked a hell of a lot better than the monstrosity known as 0bamacare. Let's go back to that!

Couldn’t we just get the government out of the way and let the free market take care of it?

THE GOP’s alternative is to say it is a state issue and not an issue the Fed’s need to be involved in.

The House GOP had a 250-page health care reform bill back in 2009 but it was largely ignored by the news media.

I go to my doctor down the street, I get pills at the local rite-aid, I go home. At no time in my medical care do I cross state lines so the Fed’s have no authority to be involved and I simply wish the GOP would start dividing responsibilities. 13% of my income goes to the state and what do I get for it?

Most times, the answer is, it is the other guys responsibility - what do you think they get paid for - too many feds are on tv show sassuming a responsibility they should not -Paul for an example.
