Christians in Egypt are under the worst persecution by Islamic radicals in recent memory, Syrian believers are displaced in massive numbers and the effort to assist them in both countries goes on despite tremendous upheaval in both nations.
Most of the recent attention has been focused on Egypt. Christians have been in the Muslim Brotherhoods cross-hairs since the 2011 Arab Spring, but the persecution has greatly intensified in the weeks following the July 3 coup that removed Mohammed Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood from power. The violence is a result of radical leaders blaming the coup on Christians. Its a palpably false claim, but it carries great resonance with those loyal to Morsi.

Any comments from Obama, the Clintons, John Kerry, John McCain, Lindsay Graham, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Amnesty International, the World Council of Churches, the United Nations, or any of the other progressives and progressive organizations constantly preaching to us about human rights?
Obama's plan is working perfectly.
Burn the churches but they can’t burn the Faith.
Of course not wrong religion, End time prophey
The US "news" media isn't about news anymore, it's all propaganda for their selected boy-king.
This simply doesn’t catch anyone’s attention. Even on FreeRepublic, I’m only making the 7th comment on this subject.
Is it because it’s to be expected in the Middle East? I’m just afraid we’re so lost as a country and as Western civilization that we can’t stand up for anyting anymore. All our values are to be mitigated to outsiders.

**crickets**
Thought so.
Just waiting for the churches and black churches to start burning here in the USA by the Mooslems.
According to some freepers, the only people who "count" as "Christians" are evangelical born-again protestants. They're tell you Catholic and Orthodox churches are "unbiblical" and "medeval cults" who "worship the Virgin Mary" and so on.
Since virtually all Coptic Christians are Orthodox or Catholic, I guess the Muslims aren't killing "Christians" in Egypt.
Even on FR? There have been lots of topics about the Egyptian church destruction.

All that's on hold until September 45th.
Obama cheers.
Amen!
If those had been 50 mosques burned down - our ‘dear leader’ and his shills in the MSM would care...
Bet the WH has a party this week.
Muslims and atheists blame Christians for all the ills in the world.
I am grateful to Reformation Fan for posting this.
I knew almost nothing about the Copts until I read Fr. Mark Gruber's book Journey Back to Eden (Link) about the year he spent in the desert monasteries, some of them 1700 years old. They embody--- they LIVE ---a Christian religious culture so ancient and important ---
Now I my own response is a sense of pathetic futility. I want them to survive. I want people to know about them. But what can one do? Who's going to rescue them? Obama? (ha.) The U.N.? (Ha, ha.) The only one that's actually stepping in to support the Al-Sisi govt. is Putin, God help us. NOt that Al-Sisi is exactly an angel. Better than Morsi -- as far as we know, for now.
I pray. Not as much as I should.
Since the vast majority of Copts (probably over 95% of them) were baptized as babies as never went around telling people when they were "saved" and "started a personal relationship with Jesus Christ", I guess they're "not Christians", according to some of our evangelical protestant friends. Just applying their logic.
