As recently as six months ago, Florida, a state with a poor record for producing presidential candidates, appeared to be striking gold at last.
Former Gov. Jeb Bush and Sen. Marco Rubio were among the top three or four candidates, sometimes at the very top, in nearly every poll of Republicans on the 2016 presidential nomination. They had starring roles at the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa one year ago this week, with Rubio introducing nominee Mitt Romney.
Today, things look different.
-snip-
Called a traitor and a RINO, or Republican in name only, over immigration reform by some of his earliest backers among the tea party movement, Rubio has been using the August recess to mend fences.

“lose luster”=”no can polish feces”
Jeb Bush never had any luster. Aside from the fact that he aided in the dehydration of a helpless woman that resulted in her death, he is a jug headed moron.
Rubio spent every last bit of his capital on his effort to show us that he is a liar, and those efforts succeeded better than just about anything I’ve ever seen. What a putz he is.
So what you are saying is Americans don’t like to compete, won’t compete, can’t compete against immigrants who should be severely disadvantaged by not knowing the culture, possibly having english as a second language, not having connections to the old boy network, probably suffering some level of discrimination and having a total lack of local knowledge.
Of course, the immigrants do have a BIG ADVANTAGE in that they did not get exposed to American education, American drug culture, American slacker morals, and a culture that frowns on doing manual labor.
Before scapegoating the immigrants, maybe we should fix our education system, fix our “I don’t do that work” culture, fix our drug and alcohol problems, and regain our work ethic .
I don’t recall saying that.
I am saying, as clearly as I possibly can, we need as Americans to stop sending US jobs to other countries.
And I am saying, as clearly as I possibly can, we need as Americans to stop importing so much stuff.
Bring back American jobs.
Now.
“mend fences”=what sex poodle algore claimed to do in 2000 in TN
Jeb Bush clearly puts the interests of Mexican and other illegals above the interests of Americans. Simply being married to a Mexican-American doesn’t mean one has to sell out his country.
I could NEVER support either of these loathsome creatures.
“immigrants”?
If Jeb Bush decides to run, he’ll get the Republican nomination, IMO.
He will have an absolute lock on the top GOP campaign contributors; as we saw with the last election, money talks, especially in the primaries.
Funny. I laugh at how the RNC blames Florida for their poor candidates, like it's Florida's fault? Ha!
Hey, RNC? Do you have any pro-American, non-socialist, non-amnesty supporting, pro-Constitution people left in your establishment party or have you chased them all away?
The Tea Party is raising more money than Karl Rove right now despite the IRS roadblocks that are currently in place. Don’t count your Bush chickens before they hatch.
Some so-called "veteran Republican operative"compares Cruz and Rand Paul to Bono.
LOL!
in some of you are falling for it, or in it....
I'd take Marco or Rudy or any other so called "rino" except Marco isn't a rino over any or your rat politicians any day of the week....
you'd think some of you would LEARN that you can never ever vote in democrats ever, ever....
Jeb had “luster”?
I did not get that memo.
Only because the RNC is pushing Christie.
Christie is a horrible, horrible choice, IMHO. Either Bush or Rubio would be head and shoulders above Christie.
Doesn’t matter if and/or when the elitists who control the GOP tell us Bush or Rubio are the one. After all, “it’s Jebbies turn”...
Your contempt for the grassroots is typical of the ball-less RINOs who think they know everything, yet continue to lose elections.
>I will not support any of the three.<
.
Ditto from all the members of my family.
As far as I am concerned, Rubio did too good a job tearing down the fence to mend it. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Same goes with Rick Scott as far as I am concerned.
