Yes! When I was in Mexico in 2011, I had occasion to go up into some little towns near Oaxaca. We went to one where we had to call ahead and get permission to enter, because the locals had barricades on the road.
One of the families there had a son who had gotten involved with the drug gangs, and the village literally kicked out the entire family, set up a “border post” (manned all the time by armed males from the town), and would only drop the chains if they knew who you were and why you were coming to their town.
Once you got there, they were wonderful people, passing around the mescal, and I had a great time! I’m going back later this year...
But the sad thing is that these are just armed citizens, male or female. They are the ones who have to defend themselves and their towns in Mexico and they really can’t rely on the paid “forces of order.” This is partly because there is still some corruption, but mostly because the drug gangs are better armed and much more aggressive. Unfortunately, because of leftist international policies that favor drugs and the union connections of the lefty drug gangs, the police and military are not able to respond with the force required.
There should be drug-gang carcasses hanging from every lamp-post in Mexico.
I hope thier weapons are better than the ones the DNC sells to the cartels and Al Qeda.
