Gore claims many Republicans growing weary of GOP climate change deniers

Former Vice President Al Gore said he believes some Republicans are growing weary about how many of their colleagues deny climate change.

“A lot of Republicans have shared with me privately their growing discomfort with the statements of some of the deniers in their ranks. Even though they’re not yet willing to come back to advocate constructive policies, there is definitely movement,” Gore said in a wide-ranging interview with The Washington Post

published Wednesday.

Many congressional Republicans are at odds with the scientific consensus that human activity, largely from burning fossil fuels that generate greenhouse gases, is driving climate change.

Gore, a vocal advocate on climate change, touched on a variety of issues regarding global warming, policy and renewable energy in the interview.

He also waxed philosophic on his Oscar-winning climate change documentary "An Inconvenient Truth."

“The single most common criticism from skeptics when the film came out focused on the animation showing ocean water flowing into the World Trade Center memorial site. Skeptics called that demagogic and absurd and irresponsible. It happened last October 29th, years ahead of schedule, and the impact of that and many, many other similar events here and around the world has really begun to create a profound shift,” Gore said.

Gore was referring to Hurricane Sandy, which devastated the East Coast — including New York City — last fall and raised the profile of climate change discourse on the national political scene.

While scientists generally avoid linking individual extreme weather events to climate change, they agree its effects — such as warmer waters and higher sea levels — can exacerbate storms.

Those types of events could prove a watershed moment in discussing climate change and its impact, Gore noted.

“But they’re stronger now,” he said of storms. “The extreme events are more extreme. The hurricane scale used to be 1-5 and now they’re adding a 6. The fingerprint of man-made global warming is all over these storms and extreme weather events.”

Thanks jazusamo, that’s an old, old, one. Wish I’d dated it but they never seem to ‘go out of style’! Maybe I should say, ‘they never go away’, lol.

Poor algore...if only he had carried his home state he'd be former President algore.BWAHAHAHA! And now, having been so coldly rejected by those who knew him best, all he can do is shout "the sky is falling, the sky is falling".

Hey,algore...how many kilowatt hours does your 30,000 square foot Tennessee bungalow use per month? My two highest months,July and January (electric a/c *and* heat), are about 350kWh...$70/month.

The mangled version of 1984's Newspeak used by Al Gore and his far left media cheer squad is doubleplus ungood. I am a conservative who questions anthropogenic global warming, aka manmade climate change, but I am not a "denier" (which sounds like a pejorative that scored high in focus group testing). I am a skeptic following the scientific method.

"The science is settled" is a phrase never used by a real scientist or even in public discourse until the far left politicized science. Scientific hypotheses were always tested against observation and revised based on observed discrepancies - until AGW flipped that standard so that we now revise observations to agree with the politically correct hypothesis. The open-minded scientists who question everything and judge models based on their predictive power are the real scientists, while the PC crowd are the heirs to Russia's Trofim Lysenko and the anti-Mendelian parallels to today's Global Warming boosters.

Memo to the "best and brightest": Sandy wasn't a hurricane when it came ashore. So, it's not really a poster child for your "intense" storm theory. The problem is it hit in the worst location at the worst time of the tidal cycle to cause the most damage.

(P.S. That's why people started calling it "superstorm" Sandy, because it sounded so wimpy to claim a "tropical storm" was the storm of the century.)

The Al-Jazeera deal worked out really well for Algore, it took a turkey of his hands and left him with a pile of cash. But the bottom line is who cares what Al claims, he says he was cheated out of the Presidency but he couldn’t carry his own state and I think that speaks volumes.

What we’re growing very weary of are Climate Normalcy Deniers.

Climate Normalcy evidence is the most abundant, and undeniable phenomenon.

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls our climates.

3. The earth is a rock.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?
