Once Trayvon mythology was well-established, the story got huge, and national political figures became involved, the more egregious media bungles were deliberate efforts to protect and advance what they had already created. It's exasperating.

The recent cases of the black 17 year old teen shooting a white baby in the stroller and the shooting of Mr Lane, the Australian Baseball player by a 15 year old teen , show us that we must all be George Zimmerman.

The national media was fed a prepared, carefully orchestrated tale. They didn't invent it, they just couldn't be bothered to investigate it. It fit their political persuasion, and fed their need for something sensational, so they just took it and ran with it.
One somewhat humorous aspect was all the navel gazing they ended up doing when the facts kept conflicting with their narrative. Major cognitive dissonance there. In the end, they resolved it by just falling back on the narrative.

The reporting was so bad that when you try to inform some folks with the truth they will call you a racist.

Nicely written little article, for some reason it made me think of National Review of 25 plus years ago.

Good piece. For me, the worst aspect of the Zimmerman-inspired unreality was measured in this poll result:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2013/07/22/zimmerman-verdict-86-percent-of-african-americans-disapprove/
Eighty-six percent of blacks disapprove of the Zimmerman verdict.
I simply don't know what to do with that level of willful ignorance and gullibility. I understand that the MSM runs an effective propaganda machine, but it only takes a few mouse clicks or a quick channel change to Fox to get a different perspective.
Eighty-six percent.
By the way, let's not pretend that the Zimmerman affair is over. He is still alive, and the fatwa is still in effect. After he is murdered, there will be dancing in the streets -- and Obama and Holder might join in.
