Lee Daniels didnt hold back during an interview with CNNs Piers Morgan, saying that he believed President Obamas term in office has revealed Americas true colors and it is still a racist and angry country.
Daniels wasnt directing the comment toward all Americans, but he certainly had a point.
Morgan is known for asking the tough questions and when he pushed the director of The Butler to speak up on racism in America since Obama was elected, the interview took a powerful turn.
I think that people are angry that hes president and I think that they are showing their true colors, he said.
He tied his response in with the message he was hoping to send through his new movie and added that although he tried to inject some hope in The Butler, it wasnt enough to cover up the truth about the current state of the country.
He said that in the movie, the characters are living in a time period where a black man could be killed by a white person at any given moment and no one would be punished for it. Shortly after finishing the editing of the film, the nation was rocked by the not-guilty verdict in the George Zimmerman trial.
According to Daniels thats when he realized that sadly we are far from reaching dreams of equality.
While he did admit that the country has certainly made some progress, The Butler cast member Cuba Gooding Jr. pointed out that there is a major disconnect with the civil rights movement and the history of it.
There is more than enough evidence to suggest that some Americans are angered by Obamas election and are willing to do whatever it takes to paint him as a terrorist, Fascist or even the anti-Christ.
However, Obamas administration hasnt been substantially different from that of many other presidents who came before him except that he is black. According to Daniels, thats exactly why America is so angry with him.
Daniels is hoping that although his movie wont give anyone the answers and solutions theyre looking for when it comes to racism, it might provoke the type of dialogue that is necessary for more progress to be made.
The movie has certainly sparked a national conversation about civil rights and race issues as each of the cast members in The Butler revealed their own encounters with racism.
Daniels has said that he has to send his white secretary to catch him a cab because taxi drivers wont stop for him. Earlier this year, Forest Whitaker was publicly frisked in a deli after being wrongfully accused of shoplifting.
The movie also comes along with tons of debate regarding the N-word, which initially stemmed from the Paula Deen controversy.
Although nobody could have predicted what national events would take place as The Butler hit theaters, the timing couldnt have been any more flawless.
In the midst of the Deen controversy; American discontent with their African-American president; the not-guilty verdict for Zimmerman; and tons of other racially charged national debates, now is certainly the time that America needs to engage in a powerful conversation that is necessary for the advancement of the country.
Lee Daniels is just another racist demagogue.
Thanks 2ndDivisionVet.
“However, Obamas administration hasnt been substantially different from that of many other presidents who came before him except that he is black. According to Daniels, thats exactly why America is so angry with him. “
Another delusional liberal reveling in histrionics.
Tell us what you REALLY think! LOL!
“Daniels has said that he has to send his white secretary to catch him a cab because taxi drivers wont stop for him. “
Utter bullshit for affect.
this guy just guaranteed himself a few awards this spring...
So, if America is ‘racist’ does that mean Obama got elected via massive vote fraud?
In any event, Daniels...quit whining. We're sick of it.
I'm all FOR equality. So get rid of affirmative action. Get rid of set-asides, minority preferences on contracts, quotas, and any organization strictly for the advancement of one group of Americans over another--oh, and ditch all that hyphenated stuff.
Stand on your merits, the content of your character, and expect to work if you want the same sort of stuff I have worked long and hard for--under laws applied exactly the same way to you and yours as me and mine. Don't expect to get a free pass because of an accident of genetics--because none of us chose our parents.
Anything short of that, and you don't want equality, you want a gimmie, you want a medal just for playing, not because you worked hard and won.
It all boils down to what you expect from equality, whether that is an equal opportunity to work hard and excel, or whether you expect to have the same (or better) stuff just for showing up.
Like so much in Obama's life, he uses the plausible to hide the actual. Racism is something Americans might buy, that they elected a (barely crypto-)Muslim and an enemy of the United States to the office of POTUS is the part they can't seem to wrap their head around, even after connections are bared and disastrous policy after disastrous policy damage our economy, military, and social fabric.
The exacerbation of Racism is a twofold device: It adds to the 'beard' of a racially offended POTUS who in actuality has none of the causes for resentment a native black might (His Kenyan daddy has no heritage of slavery on these shores), and it increases/excuses the number of disaffected black youth who might be steered toward Islam, or at lest who will become the cannon fodder of his "fundamental change for America" by causing incidents which have set back race relations in this country by a half-century at least.
America’s true colors were doing fine until a racist Obama got elected.
He is the one leading the divisiveness.
He is the one showing color.
He and Eric Holder and their puppets the Congressional Black Caucus.
“Morgan is known for asking the tough questions”
Bahahaha! To paraphrase that brilliant tub of goo Rachel Jenteal: “That is retarted sir!”
Obama is making a $h!+ pile out of our country. You bet I am p!$$ed at the SOB. If he was a lily white cracka I’d be every bit as PO’d.
I’m a racist Obama-hater from all the way back to 2004. I have the racist Obama-hating bug so bad that I voted for Alan Keyes against him.
He lives in New York city, where I have seen many taxi drivers who are African, or African American. Is Daniels really truthful in saying that they won't stop for him but will stop for his "white" secretary?
If there is any truth to his story it is because his secretary is a woman. Maybe he has just discovered that cab drivers, even when they are African American, would rather pick up a woman than a man. Particularly if his secretary looks like many secretaries to very successful men in New York City do.
But since he got the talking points memo from the DNC he assigns racism as the cause.
In a related story, it was revealed that Lee Daniels had woken up from an eight year long Coma that began in November 2000 and ended in November 2008.
Has nothing to do with race, it’s about culture. And many blacks (any whites as well) subscribe to an inferior culture.
Someone please tell this idiot it’s not about Obama’s skin color!...It’s about the 40 miles of dead air between his ears!!! damn it!
There isn’t a single true word in that whole piece. A stinking pack of lies - Goebbels is down there smiling.
