Recep Tayyip Erdogan's latest comments entirely consistent with a history of anti-Semitic remarks and conspiracy theories.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that Israel is behind the removal of former Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi by the Egyptian military.

“Israel is behind the coup in Egypt, we have evidence,” Erdogan declared to members of his party meeting in Ankara on Tuesday, according to the Turkish Today's Zaman.

As of today roughly half the Turkish Admirals and a fifth of the Generals are in prison. Look up the ‘Ergenekon’ plot.

Thanks LSUfan.

Erdogan’s just a liar, although it is obvious that he’s also a bit on the stupid / slow-learning side.

When the prophecy in Ezekiel 38 is fulfilled Turkey, Russia, and everyone else participating in the attack on Israel would have been reduced to one sixth of their populations.

21 ... Look up the ‘Ergenekon’ plot.

I checked the Wikipedia entry. It was difficult to make sense of it. As near as I could tell, the military and politicians, before Erdogan, were stirring up trouble against the Kurd separatists in the southeast? And now, Erdogan has used that scandal/plot to purge the military of its secular leadership - is that about right?

No, the Turkish military was slaughtering Kurds with Erdogan’s blessing and some NATO ally’s assistance. Try reading about ‘Sledgehammer’ and ‘Turkey’ - that might clear it up a bit.

OK ... thanks for guiding me on that. No, I didn't know about this. Yeah, it does appear Erdogan has crushed the secular military leaaership.

Turkish Coup Plan
Operation Sledgehammer is the name of an alleged Turkish secularist military coup plan which reportedly dates back to 2003, and was allegedly in response to the Islamist Justice and Development Party gaining office.

Reports of the alleged plot first surfaced in the liberal Taraf newspaper, which was passed documents detailing alleged plans to bomb two Istanbul mosques and accuse Greece of shooting down a Turkish plane over the Aegean Sea. The plan allegedly was to stir up chaos and justify a military coup. The army said the plans had been discussed but only as part of a scenario-based planning exercise at a military seminar.

In 2012 some 300 of the 365 suspects were sentenced to prison terms, while 34 suspects were acquitted. The case is to be appealed.
