A month ago, the Nour Party, the largest political group to emerge from the ultraconservative Salafist movement, was seen as Egypt’s kingmaker when it dramatically joined the military-led ousting of Islamist President Mohamed Morsi. They then proceeded to shape the interim government, vetoing a nominee for Prime Minister in the first week after Morsi was removed from power.

Hardly surprising that a Time magazine article would support the pro-Muslim Brotherhood Obama, McCain and Graham position. When you are pro-Marxist and pro-Islam then this stuff just flows off your keyboard like water out of a faucet.

It's totally bunk. Just another Time propaganda piece.

A lot of FReepers are desperate to believe only part of the story when the facts are that there are a lot of different factions at play with islamists and progressives being the two biggest factions.

For instance the Tamarod movement which is an outgrowth of the Kefaya movement for change are now calling to end the peace treaty with Israel. In fact they supported Morsi until it became apparent that he wasn’t going to end the treaty. They sued and the case was thrown out and they immediately launched a campaign to oust Morsi. Christians and Jews will fair no better at the hands of one than the other.

Mubarak was the balancing point and without him, Egypt was toast and we should wash our hands of it.

I agree 100% that Mubarak was about as good as it was going to get over there.

The enemy of my enemy is not necessarily my friend.

The Tamarod talk about secular rule but hate Israel as much as every other progressive group in the world. While they circulate petitions to end the peace treaty in Egypt, they’re in Gaza calling for the ousting of Hamas and promising the Palestinian “right of return”.
