Ted Cruz was born in 1970.
____________________________________

Ted was born in Canada
His mother was old enough and born in the US (Delaware)
His father was born in Cuba and not an American citizen when Ted was born
The whole family moved (back) to the US when Ted was 4 (1974)
Ted’s father became a US citizen in 2005 according to FReeper JCBreckenridge

So why did Ted’’s father wait 30 years to become a US citizen if he “loves America” Why 2005 ???

At the earliest he could have been naturalized in 1980..

or even earlier..

he arrived here in 1957...

You’d have to ask him.

Better question - why would Ted be born in Canada if his father was married to an American citizen and he loved America?

Wouldn’t it be more natural for someone who, by his own account, who escaped Cuba and wanted to make a new life in America - to live in America? Especially with his American wife?

Why did his father wait? You’ll have to ask him.

I suspect it is the law that automatically that him a permanent resident, but I have no evidence that is the case:

“The Cuban Adjustment Act (CAA), Public Law 89-732, is a United States federal law enacted on November 2, 1966. Passed by the 89th United States Congress and signed into law by President Lyndon Johnson, the law applies to any native or citizen of Cuba who has been inspected and admitted or paroled into the United States after January 1, 1959 and has been physically present for at least one year; and is admissible to the United States as a permanent resident.”
