Attorneys are set to pin a Georgia mother who witnessed her 13-month-old son heartlessly shot between the eyes as the real killer behind his death.
Defense attorneys say Sherry West had "financial interest in the death of her son," Antonio Santiago, after she took out a life insurance policy before his savage murder in March, according to a pretrial motion.
"Other evidence of record suggests Sherry West is mentally unstable, gave several inconsistent accounts of how the crime transpired, and had a financial interest in the death of her son in the form of an insurance policy," public defender Kevin Gough said in a court motion filed Aug. 5.
Jury selection begins Monday at the Cobb County courthouse in Marietta where 18-year-old De'Marquise Elkins faces life in prison if convicted of Antonio's murder.

I wonder how the black/msm/Democrat complex will handle this. Will they use the tried and true route of just ignoring the story until it goes away or will they go beyond Trayvon Martin boundries to prove to the nation that blacks are not capable of doing depraved and racist acts? Remember only white people can be racist and depraved. Will this poor mom have to go into hiding like George Zimmerman?
At least the insanity defense would be less reprehensible than this.
Five thousand wouldn’t even pay for the funeral. I find this “motive” highly questionable.
They convicted the kid of the murder...and the $5000 insurance was one of those Gerber baby insurance polities that Gerber offers to all babies born in America for like one buck a week...
So the jury saw thru this defense line that the mom killed the baby for the insurance.
The mom has problems with drugs an brokeness that was not the charge the charge was did this 17 year old thug shoot a 14 month old right between the eyes
