Looks like they rolled every trooper in that beat plus some local PD.
Surprising they didn’t send an APC filled with JBTs.
I can see where the law may consider such protests an unsafe distraction for drivers.
Keep in mind the speed at which they are traveling.
Very easy for a short distraction to result in disaster.
Thats ALL they would need to shut down the tea party movement for good if a fatal accident were to result from protests.

The participants are generally on narrow sidewalks, presenting a danger not only to passing cars ON the overpass but to the demonstrators thenselves who are milling about and jumping around with traffic literally inches away behind them.
I prefer the street corner freeps we used to have....they were effective and were never designed to be calamity-prone.
In case of anyone curious, I've participated in street freeps too numerous to list here....just ask any veteran freeper in our very active Florida chapters about our very effective freeps the past decade-plus.
Though I DID love the Obama masks shown in the photo up-thread!

Just a couple of points:
Don’t the State Troopers in MO. wear badges? The LEO’s in dark blue uniforms were wearing badges, but the guys in the ‘smoky the bear’ hats were not. I hope someone got their names.
Violation of a citizen’s Constitutionally guaranteed rights, of which the right of free speech and the right to peaceably assemble to petition one’s representatives for redress of grievances are specifically mentioned in the 1st Amendment, is both a Federal crime and something for which the perpetrator can be sued by the effected individual. Get a lawyer, file charges (although we know that Holder’s DoJ will do nothing about it), and SUE THE BASTARDS! All the way up the chain of command from the arresting officer to the MO State Attorney General and the Governor. Maybe you will win, maybe you won’t, but you will force them to take the time and energy (and money) to defend themselves. As a former state employee who has been sued by my ‘clients’, I can assure you this upsets the applecart/rocks the boat, and in the future the agencies concerned will go out of their way to avoid getting in the same fix.
