Like the waitress is the abnormal one for not immediately recognizing how wonderful, brave, courageous, blah blah blah these two bizzaros are.

Its the most normal thing in the world to see two moms together with their kids. I am watching re-runs of Lucy and Vivian in The lucy Show early 1960s where both are Moms without husbands.
So they in this skit (not Lucy and Viv LOL) had to have them kiss ON THE LIPs in view of every other customer, to make it known to everyone to support the rest of the script.
Plus what waitress is going to act like that without support from her boss the owner? In a scene the boss scolds her for it and so she complains to other customers.Notice the aggressive obnoxious men are the heroes. That fictional act was written unrealistic on purpose to get their message across :"Stand up for the gays. Yell back at the intolerant and tell them (the gay victims) that you love them"
Today someone told me that the (socially) conservative Chinese will someday embrace gayness but they will not in our lifetime let popular entertainment raise their kids like what happened here.
