I already pointed out that the military could have protected the Copts and not allow them to get attacked. But they did not. There was more than enough forewarning.
A few things about Egypts military:
- They allowed the Muslim Brotherhood to take power in the 2011-12 elections even before radical generals like Sisi were appointed.
- Even during Mubaraks reign, they were not very motivated to protect the Copts.
- They had to be pushed into getting Muslim Brotherhood members out of power after such were elected to Mubaraks parliament when running as so-called independents.
And with Islamists running the military right now, plus with a high likelihood that Sisi will want to retain political power for himself while (as he said himself) cooperating with other Islamists (such as the ones he appointed to the new interim government), things will never get back to a Mubarak-like state.

“things will never get back to a Mubarak-like state.”
Egypt will get a lot closer to that Mubarak-like state with the military running the show than with the MB running the show. It’s a moot point however, as the military is indeed running the show now. No choices to be had. The die is cast.

You don't get it, so I'm winding down this repartee.
I don't care how evil you think the military leaders are, and I'm sure your dossier on them is correct, but they're going to be a helluva lot better for the Egyptian people to live under and to enjoy a return of stability than to try to live normally and ply their trades under the control of the crazy Muslim imams and jihadists.
Have a nice evening.
