The Washington Post´s article detailing the fourth amendment abuses by the NSA got some push back from the administration who attempted to "edit" the article before publication. The internal audit referenced in the article was obtained by the WaPo from Edward Snowden. The details of the audit indicated repeated and growing privacy violations by the NSA, violations which included obtaining thousands of American citizen´s communications records and using methods of information collection that were later deemed unconstitutional by a court. But a single “incident” in February 2012 involved the unlawful retention of 3,032 files that the surveillance court had ordered the NSA to destroy, according to the May 2012 audit. Each file contained an undisclosed number of telephone call records.

Indeed. I wonder if all of the liberals that have infested Slate for the past 17 years will now crawl away from the woodwork and find a new home. If so, a thorough fumigation is in order. Some of them will probably embrace the new Libertarian stance, but most have been die-hard leftists and can’t change now.

With stuff like that, if I don’t have time to read it now, I just print it to .pdf file format and save it for later. I have hundreds of articles saved that way that are probably no longer on the net and have been scrubbed. I wish there was a central website where we could post (and share) articles like that. A clearinghouse of sensitive info that the Obama machine will no doubt erase from existence (or try to).

The Obama administration secretly won permission from a surveillance court in 2011 to reverse restrictions on the National Security Agency’s use of intercepted phone calls and e-mails, permitting the agency to search deliberately for Americans’ communications in its massive databases, according to interviews with government officials and recently declassified material.
In addition, the court extended the length of time that the NSA is allowed to retain intercepted U.S. communications from five years to six years — and more under special circumstances, according to the documents, which include a recently released 2011 opinion by U.S. District Judge John D. Bates, then chief judge of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court.
