The state of Oregon has launched a discrimination investigation against a family bakery owned by Christians who refused to bake a wedding cake for a lesbian couple.
The Bureau of Labor and Industries will investigate whether Sweet Cakes by Melissa violated a 2007 law that protects the rights of gays, lesbians, bisexual and transgender people in employment, housing and public accommodations.
Aaron and Melissa Klein told Fox News they turned down requests to bake cakes for gay weddings because it goes against the Christian faith and their right to religious freedom.
I believe marriage is between a man and a woman, Klein said. I dont want to help somebody celebrate a commitment to a lifetime of sin.
The 2007 Oregon law provides an exemption for religious organizations and religious schools but does not allow private business owners to discriminate based on sexual orientation.
Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian told The Oregonian he is committed to a fair and thorough investigation to determine whether the bakery discriminated against the lesbians.....

Look, I don’t like the law. But which is it? Gays are doing this purposefully and they don’t care who gets screwed!
“If they fight and take the consequences, and if this impacts enough businesses and jobs, then maybe legislatures will be forced to modify their laws to allow for conscientious objection to the gay “lifestyle”.”
Yeah, fat chance.
Any business should have the right to refuse business to anyone they choose. The fact is, we’re trending towards Sodom and Gomorrah without anyone being allowed to make a choice, per free will, whether to join in or not.
Free will is what distinguishes Judaism/Christianity from Islam. I notice that Muslims aren’t going through this crap.
That all changed during the Civil Rights era.
Remember the Lunch Counter protest? That was a Private Business following Democrat Party protocol.
The Federal Government said you can’t discriminate, and the definition of discrimination expands with every grievance aired by a Protected Class favored by those in power.
If a Business doesn’t want my money, I’ll either find one that does or start a Business of my own.
we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason
if you don’t like it... don’t come in
if the homo bakery is in direct competition ... the homos would go to the Christian bakery and cause problems.. hoping to get them shutdown
good for the homo business
If it goes into the oven with the intentions of making it lesbian, could one consider the final product to have been born that way?
We need to set up an underground railroad for slaves to escape fascist states like Oregon. It could be facilitated by sending out air sorties every fortnight from free states to bomb bridges and public buildings in Stalinist states like Oregon. I would also mine their harbors and blow up their power plants.
Reactivating the battleship USS Wisconsin to pound Portland into rubble is also reasonable. If we need to nuke the Columbia River in order to widen it so that the USS Wisconsin can sail into position, I have no problem with that. Doing these simple tasks would give these 70 IQ slugs something else to worry about besides wedding cakes.
Of course ideas like the above are why I never attained the rank of general or admiral.
Ok, is it time yet to repeal the Federal Civil Rights laws? It's become insane.
This a very large and powerful company that has decided it is best to squander a few million dollars each year and cave into the demands of the leftists rather than leaving themselves open to fines, lawsuits, and being blacklisted from government contracts.
If large corporations can't win, then how is a small business supposed to succeed?
I remember back in the 80's when people started "living together" in large numbers, and that some apartment owners tried to fight back and deny couples who weren't married. The whole premise of "Three's Company" was that John Ritter's character would not have been allowed unless he was gay.
What seems to have happened is that there were a few lawsuits, some apartment owners may have been able to go a few years with various subterfuges, but that everyone ultimately caved.
Back then there was no concerted effort to get everyone to yield. People "living together" was never really a formal advocacy group.
But now there is a very well organized and motivated advocacy group that will start mowing down Christian businesses one-by-one.
If each business tries to protect itself by keeping its head down or using various tricks, then each business will be forced to cave or close.
If all of the businesses get together now and create a strong advocacy group to counter the gays then there is a chance they can continue to do business as they wish.
I realize that is a long shot, but I think it is the only shot that has any chance.
I agree with you: a concerted and well organized UNITED front is the only way to counter anti religious-rights groups like the radical homosexuals.
Over A CAKE??
Elections may matter, but the US Constitution obviously doesn't (when are we going to concede the obvious??)
Militant Homos, Atheists, Leftists, and "Minorities" now head many untold bureaucratic positions of power as American Reichsführer SS. With acute hatred and sharpened axes to grind, they are selectively exacting their pounds of bloody flesh.
Frankly, we see parallels in Egypt today as Muslims have burned down countless Christian Churches. No, folks -- in neither case will any of this hate, spite and revenge turn out well.
