The owner of a landmark Milwaukee polka bar said the business will be open Friday night, following a Thursday night shooting that killed a would-be robber. Andy Kochanski, who owns Kochanski's Concertina Beer Hall at 1920 S. 37th St. on the city's south side, told reporters Friday that three armed men tried to rob the establishment while he and two customers were inside. He fired at the robbers, killing one of them. "I did what I had to do to protect myself and my customers," Kochanski told WTMJ-TV early Friday. Milwaukee police confirmed Friday afternoon that three suspects tried to rob Kochanski at gunpoint when Kochanski grabbed a gun and shot one of the robbery suspects, a 23-year-old Milwaukee man, who died at the bar. The two other suspects fled, Lt. Mark Stanmeyer said.

"We'll always have polka, dahlink!"
Wow! In STEREO even! Is that Barbara Feldon?
Provided by Mrs. Vilve Yachke! :-)
Amish suspects?
FUNNY
I used to play badminton and learned how to polka in a place called “Polack Alley” and another place called “The Polish National Hall.” The people were heaps of fun, but I would never mess with them (because they were heaps of fun, among other things lol!).
He will no doubt cast ballots in 2014 and 2016 ... and on into perpetuity. NC has more than 500 voters registered who would be 112 years old or older! Democrips know how to cheat and lie and commit degenerate acts and murder the alive unborn.
Yeah, he may have nailed this perp, but they still don’t know who stole the kiskke.
Alright, I plead guilty - but it’s not like there’s universal agreement on the correct spelling: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAmLXrMv4-c
It will always be a source of puzzlement to me how John Candy, who was maybe the funniest cast member of the funniest show ever on tv, SCTV, could make such awfully, unfunny movies.
Actually not. According to local talk show hosts, bars are one of te few businesses that still deal in mostly cash.
Actually yes.
Your local talk show hosts are not the arbiters of bar-behavior. Credit card companies rule. Bars only use cash for customers who stiff them. Any bar who would KEEP these losers as customers deserve to lose.
My father had been a bartender.
Side note: My dad said that the WORST customers in the world were drunken middle-aged women. Also, most bars don't want the cash--too much temptation for the bartender. It's much better to deal in the plastic.
Your photo is priceless. Hahaha.
This bartender is the owner. Maybe it’s a Milwaukee thing. Apparently this bar deals mostly in cash. I know someone who used to work there.
Maybe it is.
My father hated the bar business. He kept his bartender's card...just in case there was no work. He was from a different era.
He didn't go on about it but most bars in this country are pretty sleazy. The PUBS in the U.K. seem very homey. Kids, old ladies and dogs go into them. They also serve food. So totally different but they are really nice to hang out in...and many Brits do so.
The bars here that are half way nice, my opinion of course, are those bars associated with a nice restaurant.
There are many, many neighborhood bars in the eastern half of the Midwest and the northeast which are exactly as you describe: Family places that serve food and are great hangouts.
Cincinnati was full of them.
Well, I was describing the USA generally and not CINCINNATI specifically. I was describing the U.K. generally as well, as there MUST be bars that are not nice.
But you know that and are just giving me some **** for some reason.
Beside, people who hang out in bars aren't anyone I would want to know. Bars, no matter where they are, have many drunks...and who needs to GO to the place they hang out?
You forgot to mention the dogs that I wrote about....do you have many dogs in your Midwest and northeast who hang out in your bars? That was rhetorical.
Final comment (Thank gawd she says.): you must be young because anyone of any age over 40 knows how bad drinking is for the body, no matter how nice the bars are in the Midwest and northeast.
