ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) - Atlanta's high temperature on Thursday was only 73 degrees which is the coolest high temperature on record for August 15.
The previous record was a high of only 77 degrees from 1908.
The average high temperature for this time of year is 88 degrees, putting Thursday's high 15 degrees below average.
Atlanta has seen a cooler-than-average summer due to a lot of rain. We're about 15 inches above average on rainfall this year.
Mod - please pull this thread so I can fix the article URL.
Thanks.
It has been in the low 80’s here in Memphis. Normal year we are over a 100....
Picked a good time for a vacation. It sure has rained a lot this summer.
Temps in the mid 40s here the night before last. 50s last night. (Southern Michigan)
Gonna be a beautiful weekend for a race at MIS. Its usually in the mid to upper 90s this time of year. High of 78 on Saturday and a high of 83 predicted for Sunday.
Sixteen degrees below normal today just outside Huntsville, AL.
Here in Central Florida we are still having our usual 90 degree days, but never over 100, and experiencing the thrill of having our seatbelt buckles also serve as branding irons.
Regardless of the temperature....please stop raining. We have algae on the mushrooms here. Literally has not rained for more than a two day period for months.
Weather varies. Temps go up and down. There is no “normal” temperature. There is no “should be” temperature. Watching the weather forecast would be much more fun if weatherpeople would just get that into their heads.
That glo-bull warming can be a bear.
AHA!
Now we got them by the short hairs!

Thanks.
Where the heck ARE you?!
You can send all that rain to Texas, please!!!
Temp may have touched 68 at my house today in Marietta, GA, which is a NW suburb of Atlanta, but it was basically 67 for nearly all the afternoon. Unbelievable for a mid-August day in Georgia.
“We have algae on the mushrooms here.”
Rainy season is coming up here soon. I’ll have to look out for that. We get algae on the house, and mushrooms spring up in the yard — but, I haven’t noticed algae on the mushrooms yet.
Coming soon to a theatre near you:
Global Rainfall
After the republicans have overheated the planet and generated record rains worldwide, where are you going to go to dry out. Women and children are drowning every second of the day because of republicans. The war on dry is out of control. Enter a new man for the 21st century. Obama Dryer. Give us all your money and we will end the ruinous rein of republicans.
Help us Obama Dryer...
I went for a drive in my convertible yesterday (North Carolina) and expected I would be able to put the top down, but it was too darn cold!! In August!!
I’ll trade ya.
Been cold out here on the Cal coast all summer.
Global cooling whining set to ensue...
Woe is us, we’re all gonna die...
All you need is a speech from AlGore on globull warming.
You'll be okay.
