Savage during afternoon drive time?
I can only see a ratings disaster ahead.

Savage, despite his idiosyncrasies still comes up with gems. For example he just stated that the Iraq/Afghanistan wars have factored large in the bankruptcy of the nation, with stories about buttloads of money on palettes going to these hellholes that neither Rush nor Hannity will even mention, as these reports just go down the memory hole. I cringe at Savage’s hubris sometimes, it detracts greatly from the show overall, but he has a certain “red meat” factor that the others lack.

And if they sign Savage (the quintessential stopped clock who is right twice a day) they’ll just be nailing their own coffin.
Here is my Prediction....
Hannity will move to the Blaze and be “Un-Chained”....

It still mystifies me why more than a handful of people listen to Savage.
He is a good transition from Conservative Talk Radio to Kook to Kook AM.

Boy oh Boy do I agree. He has screws missing, not loose.

I agree, Savage keeps you interested. You cannot predict where he will go next.

but is a raving lunatic 20 minutes later. Plus, anyone who listens to that raving lunatic will be either perpetually angry, mentally damaged, or depressed. Probably all.
Very good sagar yours is probably the key position in this. Hannity for all his minor failings, is a great balance in the control of the airwaves positioning. And definitely not because of his conservative stance (nearly amateurish), but because of his acceptance by so many of the L.I.V.. For most they can not see things from Rush's more cogent and usually correct point... which in the long term, better for conservatives.
Hannity's patience and seemingly steadier positiioning hopefully will win the day (late afternoon, early evening).

Hannity on the other hand is 100% predictable.

Hannity is not one of my faves and I often change stations or turn off the radio -— but I will take him over the screeching Savage any day. Even Limbaugh is a humble pie eater in comparison to savage - and Rush actually has reason to be a braggart.

I like when he talks about the old days “when the chrome was thick and the women were straight.... etc.”
He is a showman with some very original takes on the political scene. He uses humor very effectively. However, since he started his new show/time slot, his program has not been as good as before.
His is performer, a flaky one at that. I would not look toward Savage for political consistency. He is a loose canon. Sometimes that is fun to listen to and sometimes it gives you a headache.

Why? Savage was #3 talker in the nation when he had his afternoon show. That’s no easy accomplishment.
To: NotYourAverageDhimmi
It is his homosexual attraction to the famed homosexual, friend, and NAMBLA member, Allen Ginsberg, that should make people doubt Wiener’s authenticity, much more than him being a heavy supporter of Jerry Brown.

You are probably right. Cumulus needs to bear in mind that a great talent can and does set the rules in today's crazy business climate. Hopefully they will see that Rush is right and a better snap decision maker given the Rush's overall proven history.
Ignoring Rush's better acumen to the current climate may be the wrong read for Cumulus. Now they will need to take advantage of multiple big talents (including Hannity's replacement) and properly sort this all out.
Could this be shown. in the long view, to be a jump the shark moment for Cumulus? Many in the business probably hope so for various reasons.

Hannity is being replaced on Fox by Megan Kelly.
Hannity MAYBE is being replaced on Cumulus by Michael Savage.
I have heard nothing about what he is planning. I suspect politics. He thinks he is the smartest guy around and the nation cannot survive without him so I suspect he is going to run for the Senate. Kirsten Gillibrand is not up for reelection until 2018, but Chuckie Schumer’s term is up in 2016. I do not think Hannity has a snowball's chance in Juarez of beating Schumer, So I guess he either thinks Schumer is going to retire (right, sure) or he is going to carpetbag another state. New Jersey? Connecticut?

I agree, Savage keeps you interested. You cannot predict where he will go next. You can't predict where a baboon will go next, either. But I wouldn't listen to one on the radio.
Hmmm. Now you've got me wondering. What exactly IS the difference between Michael Savage and a talking baboon with a microphone and a broadcast tower?
Struggling to come up with something here. Somebody help me out.
