I’ve seen more than one “school list” that demands ONLY Ticonderoga Number 2 whatever pencils...I saw it enough to do a background search on the owners of Ticonderoga Pencils.

The search was inconclusive as far as political loyalties go, but I suspect that Ticonderoga Marketing may be farther into our school systems than we may realize. In this case, I’d look for money and perks to the teachers....

It would be an interesting investigation by a real journalist, but alas, there are none in this country any more.

One local brand of potato chips (Mikesells) bragged about being fried in peanut oil, so I could see them being excluded. I don't know if they still use peanut oil with the all allergy worries now.

This does get me wondering if they have socialized snacks where the food is redistributed among the kids. "OK kids put your snack into the surprise box and then the teacher will give one to each of the kids according to his needs." And Fat Jim will get the carrot sticks no matter what he brought in.
