In the pics she posted, there is not an ounce of sadness in her eyes.

In the hours after my mom’s passing last year, my sister and I were telling each other family stories and laughing out loud.

Had a picture been taken of us then, well, you get the idea.

And when I heard that my father had died in prison I cried my eyes out.

And anyone who would’ve thought I was grieving for him would’ve been mistaken.

My sister and I did our share of laughing in remembrance also when mom died. She was 84, and died of natural causes. However, I can’t think I would could ever laugh or celebrate her life/death had she been beaten to death along with my brother and then torched. As a matter of fact, I think it would take a long time to ever smile again.
