The U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas Malcolm Bales released a statement Wednesday morning regarding derogatory comments about minorities and President Obama posted on Facebook by a Beaumont-based assistant U.S. attorney.
"This office neither supports nor condones the views expressed on Facebook by Mr. Craft. He was not speaking on behalf of the US Attorney's Office," said spokeswoman Davilyn Walston in a statement.
Previous reporting:
The U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas said he will "look into" derogatory comments about minorities and President Obama posted on Facebook by a Beaumont-based assistant U.S. attorney.
John Craft, an attorney in the criminal division, posted comments on a private Facebook page in response to a status update backing Stand Your Ground laws.

Craft wrote: "How are you fixed for Skittles and Arizona watermelon fruitcocktail (and maybe a bottle of Robitussin, too) in your neighborhood? I am fresh out of "purple drank." So, I may come by for a visit. In a rainstorm. In the middle of the night. In a hoodie. Don't get upset or anything if you see me looking in your window...kay?"

In another comment, Craft wrote that "low information voters carried the day for the Dalibama in the last election" and posted an image of a graphic that said: "Obama: Why Stupid People Shouldn't Vote."

Well, then, there you go. That should be the end of it.
Reverend Al...Please pick up the courtesy white phone!...Oh no...that’s racist!
Actually, which comments were derogatory about minorities?
I think that must be in the eye of the beholder to assume that "purple drank" drinkers and low information voters must be minorities. Really, when I think "low information voters" I think "teachers unions" and "journalists".
I think Facebook posters.
OMG! A real live attorney has the same opinion of a case that a large majority of citizens from all walks of life post on this website, and others, every single day!
Burn the witch! or something.....
I wonder what his handle is here on FR. ?
thought policing is a pillar of communism
Doubleplus ungood thought crime.
Hear that crumbling sound? It is the First Amendment falling all around. Freedom of expression? Not permitted.
Sometimes, before you know it, the truth slips out.
FReepers are never near my first thought when I hear or read the phrase "low information voters."
I saw no comments there disparaging minorities. He posted comments disparaging 2 specific individuals.
Apparently we are not allowed to criticize the actions or beliefs of any individual who may be a “minority”, because obviously calling a specific criminal ****stain a criminal is the same as calling every minority a criminal.
Is this really what this nation has come to? Breathless media reports screaming to the heavens “That man criticized A MINORITY! BURN THE RACIST!”? The world has gone mad.
Were derogatory statements made against President Bush by Democrat officials ever investigated, or were the officials who made them ever fired or harassed by the media in any way?
No.
Someone spoke ill of His Arrogance ... a hanging offense at the least, with beheading and quartering to follow for good measure.
Who said anything about FReepers?
You said you think of Facebook posters when you think of low information voters. There are many Freepers who also post on Facebook......................
