YAKIMA COUNTY SHERIFF NEWS RELEASE -- On 08-11-2013 at about 0927 hours the Yakima County Sheriffs Office was advised of a burglary in progress with a suspect being detained at a residence on McKinley Rd north of Progressive Rd. Upon law enforcement arrival, it was found that the suspect had been shot. The 16 year old male suspect from the Toppenish area was transported to a Yakima area hospital where he was subsequently transferred to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition with a single gunshot wound to the torso.
The investigation has revealed to this point that the family was sleeping on the property when they went to check on the sound of movement inside their residence. The suspect assaulted family members in his attempt to flee and was subsequently struck by a single shot fired by the homeowner. Evidence inside the home indicates that before the suspect was noticed he had begun to search the residence and remove property. The family members are uninjured.
The case remains under investigation.
Burglary has got to be one of the most high risk professionsin an admittedly loose sense of the termof all.
I hope to God that the wounded youth is not an africanmerican. If he is and dies, he could become the next St. Trayvon. Then it starts all over again.
In Wapato, out in central Washington State, the 16-year old burglar is more likely to be an illegal alien.
Notice that no details were provided about the “wounded youth”? If he were white we would have been informed of such.
He probably figured anyone living on “Progressive Road” would be easy pickin’s! /s;)
