You know, as an example of government overreach and tyranny, I’ve been thinking about copiers (probably applies to printers too, not sure). Years ago, the feds made a requirement that all copiers have kind of a fingerprint. What a great way to shut down speech. The Founders obviously believed in anonymous speech - for example “Publius.” They said it was stop counterfeiting, but then why do they need to keep changing the bills? They just want to know what everyone is saying and doing. We are in a lowish-grade police state, most people just don’t realize how close we are to going full-scale Stasi.
you may be within the bounds of the country... but you’re no longer in America
‘LET’S ROCK!!!”
Agreed. It's one instance in which dumb is smart, at least for now.
That’s damned right.
Shall not be infringed.
You can't bypass rights, but I'd bet that any disabling technology could and would be bypassed.
More like 500M by the time u toss in military surplus.
I’m pretty sure that Herschel was featured in one of the Foxfire books - #5, I believe.
I mean, why not an RFID hammer? Or coffee cup? It's for safety and FOR THE CHILDREN so it must be done...
Now I have to put tinfoil on my firearm, too?!

Going to the source: “RFID . . . technology will fit easily inside the handle of a gun. The second part of the system is the ability to create safe zones in certain areas such as schools where smart guns coming into the area will be disabled remotely.”
1. I don’t want to buy a weapon from anyone who puts technology in the “handle”. My lunchbox, back in elementary school, had a handle; real firearms have a grip or a stock.
2. I don’t think police want guns that can be remotely disabled, and I’m sure organized crime would learn to hack the TriggerSmartTrash so that it didn’t work around their people.
3. King Leonidas had the right answer to anyone who wants to disarm free men, and TriggerSmart is doublespeak for disarming us.
I’m a firearms manufacturer. I will not be building any “smart guns” with RFID technology. Not happening. If they demand it, I’m cutting off the Government completely.
Not tolerating their crap anymore.
They’ve been talking about this since the 1980’s.
As I understand it, Smartguns are weapons with integral electronics that require authentication of the user (through a variety of possible mechanisms, one of which is a thumbprint) before it can be fired.
The weapon could contain a small reciever (RFID? I think the term is being misused here) that would simply throw a switch that would disable the authentication feature when a certain signal is sent. Result: inoperable weapon/paperweight.
Iirc they’ve also been looking at similar remote kill switch technologies for cars as a means of preventing high speed police chases.
>>I`m goona build an RFID jammer that shuts off all govt guns.<<
What the probably have in mind is some way to destroy the sear or the firing pin when a particular frequency is within range at a certain wattage.
>>The only Smart Gun I want is the one Vasquez is packing in Aliens. <<
Have you considered it might be more fun just to have the money to buy the ammo for is the gun Vasquez is packing in Aliens. <<
guess the message is BUY NOW
Early cartridges had a primer mixture in the base, but if centerfire, may have used bar-anvil or Benet cup priming. Bar anvil uses a bar inside that the firing pin pinches the priming mixture against and have two crimps near the base of the cartridge case, opposite one another.
Benet cup primed cartridges used a cup shaped anvil in the base of the cartridge (similar concept) and had three crimps near the base of the cartridge about equally spaced around the circumfrence.
I have seen both varieties of cartridge case, found near Fort Buford in North Dakota, along with some of the swedged pocket primed and early centerfire removable primer systems close to what we use today.
