Alternate theory:
Obama is giving Putin everything he promised, now that he has the “flexibility” provided by the election.
The little spat between them is a nice diversion, just like the “drama” of Obama vs. Hillary at the Deomcratic convention, which turned out to be scripted for ratings purposes.
Putin no doubt vetoed Obama’s planned support for the Syrian “rebels” with a phone call. there will be plenty of other areas (mostly involving things we don’t see like intelligence “sharing”) where having the cover of a pretend icy relationship will be important.
But why would Obama support somebody as anti-gay as Putin?

No. There was a story on Drudge a day or two ago pointing out that Putin had contacted Bush but Obama didn't bother to call.

No, not necessarily a Republican, but a man with gonads. He knew Bush would beat his butt if he messed with our country. There was mutual respect between them for each knew the other held power and would use it if their country was threatened.

For now, yes, it works but once he gets into international thuggery, he is a rank novice and will get “played” like an unmarked deck of cards. At this point, Putin knows that Obamugabe isn’t a “made man” but an “owned man”.
I only hope to the Lord almighty that the citizenry will “wake-up” to this reality.
