Aloha Night Owl! ((HUGS))
The last storm 'Flossie' was predicted to be a direct hit on the Big Island....and was; but it split around the two volcanoes and headed on after 45 minutes of light rain. Lord. I love the weather folks.......they're so much more entertaining than the late might comedy shows,

Imagine yourself driving down a lone highway in the middle of nowhere at about 1 o'clock in the morning on a cloudless summer night. Your car radio is tuned to a 50,000 watt clear channel AM radio station, and they're playing this song....
Abilene- George Hamilton IV

Great song! There are quite a few I like - Prop Me up Beside the Jukebox if I Die; I Like My Women a Little on the Trashy Side; Something Women Like about a Pick-up Man; 18 Wheels and a Dozen Roses; There Ain’t Nothin’ Wrong with the Radio; and I could go on and on and on.... :-)

Worked a music festival (Artist Hospitality) way back when, Danny O'Keefe was one of the stars and that song had just started to rise in the charts. I recall him as being a very nice guy.
This one is from that same time frame, if memory serves:
Please be with me - Cowboy
Featuring Duane Allman on Dobro. Excellent song that never got the playing time it deserved.

"Women there don't treat you mean in Abilene, my Abilene."
That's because of Sharia law that prevails in Abilene, Syria.

Thanks. Another favorite which O. J. Sikes played on bostonpete.com is “Arizona, I Love You” and I have no idea who sang it but it may have been Tex Ritter. It is the AZ state song. I have tried to find a cd with it but have not been able to. I love cowboy westerns.

I think ANYTHING is better than those late night jokers and their “guests”. Makes you feel like you need a shower.
Glad your direct hit wasn’t too direct or a hit.

LOL. Great movie!
Favorite line (paraphrased):
He the scary guy with the silver nose?
He's not the one to be scared of. I'd be scared of the guy that bite it off.

I went to iTunes after posting and it had Arizona. I have it after years of searching. I wanted it for my iPad.

Town just up the road (Willcox, AZ) hosts Rex Allen days every year; their main drag is Rex Allen Blvd.

Okay, the wait is over...I hope. Today was a long day. Nana met her surgeon this afternoon; she’s scheduled for Tuesday morning. She’ll be off work for 4-6 weeks. Doc says as long as the cancer hasn’t spread beyond where it is now, she’ll be done with it and it won’t return. The prayers of all to the formerly anonymous FReeper have been felt and appreciated. Thanks!
