An 18-year-old man who was seen putting graffiti on private property in Miami Beach died after he ran from police and an officer used a Taser on him, police said.
Miami Beach Police officers saw Israel Hernandez vandalizing private property with graffiti at 71st Street and Collins Avenue at 5:14 a.m. on Tuesday, Police Chief Raymond Martinez said in a statement Wednesday.
Thiago Souza said that he and another friend were keeping a lookout as their friend Hernandez used gold spray paint to graffiti an old storefront.
I told him. I was like, 'Yo, stop, Souza said.
Police pulled up. That's when Hernandez tried using his skateboard to get away, but ran instead, Souza said.
During the ensuing chase Hernandez ran into and out of a building, and went over a fence before he crashed down hard on the hood of a car, an officer wrote in an offense incident report. Hernandez landed on his feet before losing his balance and falling on his chest, and then ran northbound on Harding Avenue, the report said.
Officers came face to face with Hernandez at 71st Street and Harding Avenue, where he ignored their commands to stop, Martinez said. An officer used a Taser on Hernandez and he was taken into custody, but he then showed signs of medical duress, Martinez said.
But the news media in Miami isn't holding back--trying to create sympathy for the criminal.
No interviews that I have seen with the people whose PROPERTY WAS RUINED by Hernandez.....
Now for the record, I do NOT think he should have died over tagging...but let us remember, THE COP DID NOT TRY TO KILL HIM. A taser is not a lethal weapon
One less punk.
Typical 'journalism' standards. Duress != Distress.

Oh well.
Shit happens.
It more often happens to people that go out of their way to seek it.............
It’s a very liberal concept that someone else’s wall is your canvas. Also, that their version of “art” should be forced on you.
Yeah...what’s the bother about all this. One less punk, for reals
Good. Death to taggers..I hate graffiti. I can’t stand the fact that people tolerate it being all over the place.
“Duress” was the term used by the police chief, so it would be improper to change it to distress.
Ah, the benefits of a gangsta education.
WTH is “medical duress”?
Too many officers confuse less lethal with non lethal.
“THE COP DID NOT TRY TO KILL HIM. A taser is not a lethal weapon”
Actually, the taser IS a lethal weapon for some segment of the population...

Graffiti is not art (as the NY Times and other liberals try to pretend). It is the equivalent of a dog lifting its leg. It is an attack on other people and their property.
The sap who inadvertently died in this incident is lucky that he wasn’t apprehended by the property owner. I think that a just punishment would have been to make him swallow the complete contents of his spray-paint can. Naw, maybe that is to rough. Maybe just spray-paint his precious skateboard, clothes, and his familys habitation, if they have one. Deport him back to whatever country he came from.
Miami Beach Police said they spotted Hernandez tagging an abandoned fast-food restaurant just after 5 a.m Tuesday morning near 71st Street at Collins Avenue.
Hernandez's friends Felix Fernandez and Thiago Souza said they were serving as lookouts when he was spotted by police. They told WSVN officers shoved Hernandez against a wall, then high-fived as he lay motionless.
Israel Hernandez. Sounds like a white Hispanic. Was the cop Black? Was this Justice for Trayvon?
No sympathy. I despise graffiti “artists” and taggers.
I beg to differ.
