They listen to your phone, they can track you anywhere, they can listen to you in your car, they can tell when you are on vacation and if you left the air conditioning on by your electric meter.

And it's not only the government. Recently, our family went on vacation. I went to use my CC when we arrived at the rental car agency. My card was denied. I immediately called the CC company and was informed that I was supposed to notify them when I traveled. I flipped out on them (been with them 15 years) and asked when they notified me of this.....crickets. It gets worse. 2 days later, went to charge an excursion and was denied AGAIN. Called them again....LIVID.... And was told I was supposed to notify them! Needless to say, I canceled and went with another provider.
The difference is that they can access the data, not anyone. With their poorly built data hub the info will be in Peking and Moscow within a day, along with 100 other hacker groups.
