Not enough reference points to even tell if the minaret would show in the second picture. It’s probably the same corner, but again, it could be looking the other direction.

There’s enough reference points——the minaret is now that pile of white rock rubble in the corner. But I say flatten it. In spite of international “rules” the Nazis found out that hiding in churches, etc. wouldn’t save them, or the churches. Same thing here. If the Syrians were proud of this stuff they wouldn’t hold it hostage by hiding in it. We’ll see soon enough whether they have the grit to actually repair any of it or whether it will just lay there like ancient Babylon, or the Acropolis, or the Coloseum,orrrr——take your pick. If this stuff was built with someone elses money it will probably never even be cleaned up. They’ll just start a new town just up the road, complete with one-hole terlets and all the convenience of a tent city.
