Yemeni officials say that militants have shot down an army helicopter, killing all eight people on board including a military commander.
The officials say the helicopter was downed by a missile over the al-Qaida stronghold of Wadi Ubida in central Yemen. The helicopter was flying from the capital Sanaa to the province of Marib, officials said. The passengers were part of a military force guarding oil installations in the province.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the press.
The attack comes at a time the U.S. and British embassies evacuated staff amid reports of a threatened attack by the terrorist group.

I wonder if this is one of the arm-smuggling weapons that was at the heart of the Benghazi cover-up?

I would not be surprised if AQ fires several dozen MANPADS tomorrow in honor of August 7th. Not a good day to fly IMO. Thousands of MANPADS have disappeared from Libya since the overthrow.

I don't think so. That is absurd.
Why would the short-handed, rode-hard-put-away-wet US Army have a mission of guarding oil installations in Yemen? That is absolutely unbelievable, unnecessary, unrealistic, and even un-American.
They were either a SpecOps crew there to take out bad guys using the oil installations as cover, OR they were being terribly abused and misused.

Benghazi covert weapons depot operation is exactly why we have had to close all our embassies, restrict travel to the region, and cower like the Jarret presidency of the United States willingly does to signal and embolden the radical Islamic front lines.

In the linked article it states it's a Yemeni military copter and to me it implies they were Yemeni military though it doesn't specifically say.
The Yemeni military helicopter was shot down by a missile over the al-Qaida stronghold of Wadi Ubida in central Yemen, officials said. The helicopter was flying from Sanaa to the province of Marib, officials said. The eight who were killed, including a military commander, were part of a military force guarding oil installations in the province.
