Was their fleeing endangering anyone? More so than the cops slinging all that lead around?

Yes. Anyone and everyone else on the road that night.
Second question irrelevant. No innocent people were harmed. Either by a drunk and stoned driver, or the cops who stopped him.

Bull****. By that 'logic' then they didn't endanger anyone by running because no one was killed by their driving. Your double standard in covering for trigger happy cops is transparent. At the time of the shooting they were STOPPED in a parking lot. Therefor the shots, which endangered anyone within a mile, where totally unnecessary. The chase was already over.

Wait—I don’t understand. Are you saying that the cops were shooting at a MOVING car? My reading of the article indicates that the car was parked.
Which was it?

No innocent people were harmed. Either by a drunk and stoned driver, or the cops who stopped him. Cops kill innocent people all the time when chasing low level, 3rd rate crooks.
And cities and counties get sued into the next century over these moronic pursuits, most of which usually involve some relatively non-violent, low level crime like speeding, a stolen vehicle, outstanding warrants, etc.
Killing innocent people on the streets to make a GD arrest should NEVER be an option.
