When I used to smoke mj (decades ago when it wasn’t nearly as potent) we used to sometimes call it “getting wasted” and that’s exactly what it does.

Well said and true. That's one of the supports of socially pathological (AKA "progressive") politics and the current debt regime. Late-'60s commie groups (e.g., SDS) pushed the stuff pretty hard. We personally saw the dupes convert to social leftism, as it happened.
