Good evening Kathy. *Hugs*
Enjoying family? Your Father’s enterrement went well?
God rest & keep him.
Good afternoon, Connie....visit is going well.
Ceremony was more than expected....7 riflemen and a live bugler played TAPS.
All the soldiers were at attention when we arrived at the “Commital Shelter”.
We presented the urn and flag to 3 soldiers at the curb. They placed them in the shelter and stepped back, still at attention. My Mom spoke first and then each of us kids, and granddaughter, told a couple stories/remembrances of times with my Dad. Pretty rough for most. Then the first rifle shots startled everyone, and then the bugler up in the trees played TAPS. All the time helicopters were flying here and there overhead. It felt good.
Then the unfolding and snapping of the flag, and refolding and presentation to my Mom. Mingling and then back to the house.
Lots of visitors, talking, cookies and punch, and everyone gone by 5p. Then we all sat around and just talked.
It was a good day. I slept 6 straight hours.
