Media: A Tennessee newspaper fired an editor over a hard-hitting editorial denouncing President Obama's jobs plan on the very day the president came to town to tout it. This has the odor of White House revanchism.
ngbfThe Chattanooga Times Free Press insists that its firing of Drew Johnson for the title of his editorial, "Take Your Jobs Plan And Shove It, Mr. President," was unrelated to content, and merely a case of an insubordinate editor changing his headline to a riff on a song by Nashville singer Johnny PayCheck over another headline. Frankly, it's hard to believe.
For one thing, it's odd in the news industry to fire someone over a headline that could easily be reversed on the Internet, if that's the issue. And it's strange for a newspaper to be angry about a headline that must have drawn hundreds of thousands of hits to the paper's website, with a prominent link on the Drudge Report.
Would they prefer a dull headline over one that readers wanted to click?
Lastly, Johnson said he changed headlines all the time at the last minute, something common in the industry.

Bankrupt The Chattanooga Times Free Press.
Probably threatened them with IRS.
Walton and Johnson have stated on air that they believe their radio show was dropped from Houston airwaves (their hometown, although they are also syndicated in other markets) because of something they said while Obama was coming through town on a fundraiser trip.
If I recall, their show was dropped shortly afterwards (one week after?). They also indicated they believed a local sports franchise owner moved his team’s radio broadcasts to another station in this same action (don’t know if they said the team owner was at the fundraiser or not). It took them several years to return to Houston radio.
That was my first thought. It seems they did it before if I remember. .
I’ve read in the past that Obummer takes pleasure in getting even and believe it.
it certainly wouldn’t surprise me
nothing from this administration does anymore. If Obama put hundreds of teapartyers in gulags it wouldn’t surprise me.
That NSA database is priceless.
Clever headlines sell newspapers. If it was a clever headline and appropriate for the article, he did his job.
The article was spot on. I watched a dvr of ‘Investing in America’
9/20/10
“A special town hall event with President Barack Obama, who discusses the economy and answers questions.”
Nothing has Changed. ‘He’s stuck on stupid!’ to borrow a phrase from General Honore.
Mr. Johnson’s editorial didn’t honor President Obama.
I noticed Jay Leno isn't making any jokes about 0bama since July 30, the day it was announced 0bama will be on his show (TUESDAY AUGUST 6TH AND DO NOT WATCH LENO THAT NIGHT (not that you do anyway).
If I were still an editor, I'd call that a great résumé enhancer.
He won't be without a job for long, I'm thinking.
LOL!! Right on, my friend.
After the IRS audit tales, the “payback” stories about conservative owned GM dealerships being shuttered for political reasons seems much more believable.
This White House is like being a Horror Movie
