Leaders of more than a dozen Caribbean countries are launching a united effort to seek compensation from three European nations for what they say is the lingering legacy of the Atlantic slave trade.
The Caribbean Community, a regional organization that typically focuses on rather dry issues such as economic integration, has taken up the cause of compensation for slavery and the genocide of native peoples and is preparing for what would likely be a drawn-out battle with the governments of Britain, France and the Netherlands.....

Because they were having such a good time living in jungle huts until their neighbors sold them to the Europeans
If they can find a living slave....
Time to stop taking Caribbean Vacations
Give them a one-way ticket to Africa.
They should be suing Africa, since Africans caught them and sold them.
Africans all got FREE passage over, plus free room and board for nearly 250 years after Columbus first discovered the New World. THEY NEED TO PAY UP!!!
I stopped that in ‘08. Just trying to survive now.
Perhaps reparations should be a program like one in Hawaii.
“Eric Holder, pick up the white courtesy phone.”
It isn’t a white phone.
Maybe the Europeans should seek compensation for the loss of their claimed lands, which were claimed legally by the international rules in effect at that time. They would be worth a LOT of money...
You mean the “free plane ticket home”? (I think they offered cruise ship passage as well. Made me want to fly to Hawaii and tell them I am homeless.)
And don’t forget any ancestors who died in the Civil War.
Why not include Spain and Portugal?
If I recall correctly, Chicago and a few other cities have passed laws which require companies doing business with the city to disclose what ties, if any, their companies had to the slave trade.
Now, such laws are just asking for disclosure of any ties to slavery, such as insurance companies and banks dealing with financial transactions relating to slavery. But, with liberals, it wouldn’t be a stretch to take these disclosures and eventually use them to punish such companies which allegedly profited from slavery.
Remember, to the liberal, the fact that slavery was legal at one time is of no consequence. The fact that ancestor companies of today’s companies weren’t doing anything illegal at the time is of no consequence.
And, the fact that we passed a constitutional amendment banning slavery is also of no consequence to those who want reparations for slavery. The fact that we have righted some wrongs of history doesn’t matter to some people.
I wonder where the president stands on this issue.
I wonder where the president stands on this issue.
The wrong side.
That evil bastard hasn’t stood for anything that’s right and good in his whole vile, miserable life.
“Made me want to fly to Hawaii and tell them I am homeless”
‘half price airfare’ LOL
Are you are referring to the Africans taken by force as human livestock to work in the fields, in bondage and until death?
If so, that statement is absurd and makes FR look terrible. Regardless of who is responsible and how blacks behave today, slavery is always wrong.
Seriously, if they want to ask any countries for reparations, they should hit up Saudi Arabia. They were the ones who sold the Africans to the Europeans.
