If a sheriffs department was going in to do a search warrant on a drug bust, you might expect a swarm of squad cars to arrive on the scene with nine officers and four deputy sheriffs, all armed to the teeth...
But what if - say - the proprietors of a Christian animal shelter (The Society of St. Francis!) were suspected to have rescued a fawn in a state where possession of wildlife is forbidden, but were in the process of transferring the animal to a wildlife preserve in another state where wild deer are permitted?
You wouldn't expect the kind hearted folks at the animal shelter to receive the same treatment as dangerous drug offenders, would you? Would that make any kind of sense?
Incredibly, if you're Supervisor Jennifer Niemeyer of the Department of Natural Resources in Wisconsin, the answer to that question is a resounding yes!
Via WISN 12 News:
"Could you have made a phone call before showing up, I mean, that's a lot of resources," WISN 12 News investigative reporter Colleen Henry asked.
"If a sheriff's department is going in to do a search warrant on a drug bust, they don't call them and ask them to voluntarily surrender their marijuana or whatever drug that they have before they show up," Niemeyer said.
This is pure insanity:
Two weeks ago, Schulze was working in the barn at the Society of St. Francis on the Kenosha-Illinois border when a swarm of squad cars arrived and officers unloaded with a search warrant.
(There were) nine DNR agents and four deputy sheriffs, and they were all armed to the teeth, Schulze said.
The focus of their search was a baby fawn brought there by an Illinois family worried she had been abandoned by her mother............

This is just the latest example of a disturbing trend in Obama's America - the militarization of government agents, as was seen with the SWAT style raids on Gibson Guitars, Mountain Pure Water, and Duncan Outdoors to name just a few...
Next time they need Janet Reno and an MRAP.
Isn’t this the same Wisconsin that conducted this study:
Study continues to monitor cause of mortality among Wisconsin deer

Where is Thumper when you need him???
Too many government officials lack critical thinking.
Someone in the area seems to have a problem with the animal shelter.
Duh, who knew that Wisconsin Bambi was a bigger threat than the hordes of illegal alien Mexican invaders that Obama refuses to capture?
There fixed it.
Bambi just might have grown up and become meals for a number of families thus reducing food stamp useage — can’t have that.
in a state where possession of wildlife is forbidden
in a state where possession of THE KING’S wildlife is forbidden
There, fixed that sentance!
Too many government officials lack critical thinking.
Someone in the area seems to have a problem with the animal shelter.
They will selectively enforce all manner of other laws pertaining to illegals, but when it comes to citizens doing good they break out the microscope and nail their asses to the law bnecause it is safer to arrest a compliant law abiding citizen that it is to go after a true criminal!!!
The doe might be gone for hours, but she'll come back.
The fawn is a lot better off where it belongs.
And I certainly do not think their actions justified the police engaging in an overzealous SWAT-style raid of the animal shelter using full military-style armament.
This is sooooo Orwellian it's scary
Who can doubt that we now live in a police state?
Just warms the cockles of your heart, doesn't it?
