A federal judge has ruled that Nebraska cops must return over $1 million confiscated at a traffic stop from a woman who saved the money $1 at a time during her 15 year career as an exotic dancer.
The money belongs to Tara Mishra, 33, of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., who began putting aside her earnings when she started dancing at age 18, according to an opinion U.S. District Judge Joseph Bataillon wrote last week. The money was meant to start her business and get out of the stripping business, the judge wrote.
State troopers confiscated the money in March 2012 when they pulled over Rajesh and Marina Dheri, of Montville, N.J., for speeding in Nebraska, according to court documents. The Dheris are friends of Mishra and had been given the cash so they could buy a nightclub in New Jersey. Mishra would own half of the business and the Dheris would own the other half...

So do I, but it definately falls into the "none of my business" category.
If I stopped on the way home withdrew $40,000 in cash, the police would immediately impound it from me, if they stopped me and saw it in a bag. I would then have to prove that it was legally mine to get it back. THAT is wrong.
In fact, that confiscation is a far bigger threat to me than any problem they are trying to solve.
She doesn’t look average...
Irrelevant. Paying taxes only used to be honorable.
Going underground is the patriotic thing to do these days.
Busy little beaver...
Cops in Nebraska must really be honest. I can think of lots of places I’ve been where she never would have been heard from again, the car would have been found torched in the woods someplace, and two cops would have disappeared without a trace to live out their days on a beach in Rio.
I’ve read that the good ones can pull in $2k a day. Most of them blow it on drugs though.
Tony Weiner’s porky Hoosier mama claims she’s pulling in a grand per trick. Now that’s likely BS, but does imply this California cutie’s claims are reasonable.
Absolutely correct. I wonder why the cop felt the need to do a search on a traffic stop? How many speeders does he pull over every day? Does he search them all? Just the out-of-state plates or all the non-white drivers?
Sadly enough the IRS will be banging at her door and it will be expensive —
why? Some of these girls make an awful lot of money, easily a $100k/yr. Just depends on how hot she is and where she works. If it’s in cash and she’s frugal I could see her saving a million.
...but as others have said, I’d bet the IRS isn’t going to be happy with her. She could be in real trouble and they won’t have a problem fining her for most of that money.
I’ll be happy to be the one to return it to her...a dollar at a time.
LOL, yeah, I imagine so. (smh)
Why was it even a QUESTION on whether or not she got her money back?
