Did you know that the US governments third-largest agency is ramping up a 20-year, $US4.5 billion construction project that will turn the grounds of a former mental hospital into an elaborate headquarters for its sprawling network of agencies? Its already a decade behind schedule and $US1 billion over budget.
In Bloomberg Businessweek, Devin Leonard describes his tour of the grounds of St Elizabeths Hospital, in Anacostia, Maryland (in the 1850s, it was known as the Government Hospital for the Insane). The 176-acre campus is scattered with abandoned buildings, some of which are completely rotted out, since someone forgot to turn the heat off when the last St Elizabeths patients were relocated in the 1960s....

Well, i wonder what the occupancy capacity is? And are the ECT (”shock treatment”) rooms and equipment still intact? Is there enough acreage to add on when they run out of “patient” rooms? lol!
But most importantly, will Queen Sheila get an office with an attached padded cell when she has one of her StuckOnStupid attacks?
I’m buds with the Ghost Adventures producing team and they had stories about that place. It’s not part of the 2013 schedule and wished it was.

To rephrase that: Some well connected contractors / vendors are going to retire off this job and every year faithfully send their campaign contributions.
LOL! It looks like they’ve added more porthole-type slots in the roof (pic at website). I guess they can’t have escapees getting away.

The main admin building (still in use at the time) and the grounds provided the outside court building scenes in "A Few Good Men".
The flowers, anchor and cannons were all props, and the Marines drilling in front in one scene were actually members of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets.
About 100 yards to the left on this building, I was providing security for a facility that housed crazy members of the Mariel Boat Lift and assorted others.

It’s not “dumber and more insane” that they are after,
it’s “most offensive to Christians” that they are looking for, generally.
These buildings are 13 hears old. Why are they being gutted and renovated?
