PRINCE ALWALEED: Fracking Is Going To Crush The Saudi Economy If Nothing Is Done
Business Insider ^ | 07/29/2013 | Rob Wile

Posted on 07/29/2013 7:39:10 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

Billionaire Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal has warned shale oil and gas development poses a threat to the kingdom's economy, the Wall Street Journal's Summer Said reports. In an open letter to Saudi oil minister Ali al Naimi [in Arabic], Alwaleed also warns the kingdom must diversify its revenue streams in the face of flagging oil demand.

A source translated the key portion of the note:

With all due respect to your Highness’ viewpoint about shale gas and that it poses no danger on Saudi economy at ‘the present time’, I was hoping that your Highness would also shed light and focus on the danger of this matter in the ‘not-so-distant future’, especially that America and some Asian countries made big discoveries in shale gas extraction which will affect the oil industry around the world in general and Saudi Arabia in particular...

He also sent us the following summary of the letter's salient parts:

The third page calls on the government to decrease its dependence on oil and start investing in alternative energy sources like solar.

The fourth page is to the deputy oil minister after he told BBC that Saudi is not concerned about shale gas at the present time. Alwaleed says shale gas may not be a concern in the present, but it should be worrying for the future of Saudi energy exports.

The fifth page is similar to the fourth. His handwritten comment asks if indeed 92% of Saudi revenue is from oil and that we should pay more attention and shale gas and other energy developments around the world.

“....we should invest in our country and infrastructure?”

.
Which means that Saudi will have to import another army of foreign workers to do the job that their own people cannot or are unwilling to do.

Never said the Jews controlled the Dems. They are leading visible players and intellectual force behind many of the liberal/socialist/judicial activists policies the party supports. Many of them hate pro Israel Evangelical Christians because they may have to sit thru a ten minute testimonial by EC why they believe in Christ. If one is strong in their religious faith ten minutes is nothing to fear. Even funnier, they hate EC but are more likely to overlook Muslims who don’t want their conversion but death. Talk about insanity!!! Little antidote, when Gore lost to Bush in FL many of my psychiatry friends had an uptick in Jewish men patients who became very distraught when Bush won. They noticed that blacks, Hispanics, Asians and other people of color vented their disappointment but not to the level they need professional help. Jewish men were the only people of color that freaked out so badly that they needed psychiatric help. Did not get many Jewish women patients, but mainly Jewish men. Culture with strong women but weak men, no wonder some of them post their body parts on the internet and still want to run for political office.

I'm really tired of seeing FReepers blame the Saudis for green racketeering when, by far, the bulk of funding and infrastructure for the greeies comes from the tax-exempt "charitable" foundations of American heirs to vast industrial fortunes. The Saudis aren't even second place when it comes to green racketeering money. The taxpayer ponies up for the lawsuits every time the complicit agencies the greenie lawyers sue "loses" the case!

Just stop it. It isn't true. Yes the Saudis are evil. Yes they fund mosques and madrassas worldwide and it is very destructive. But energy racketeering by "environmental" groups for fun and profit is an American forte to which the Saudis are themselves green. Heck sauropod, it was you who found for me the material on the Convention on Nature Protection. That was 1941. Do you really think the Saudis were into that stuff back then? No way.

Remember: it isn't the oil companies themselves that are playing this game (although they certainly did when it came to MTBE in gasoline although the NRDC was the lead player (same thing)), it is their major stockholders who fund the greens, often laundering the money through other foundations. And yes, when you buy that stock you are a beneficiary.

Omg, no more man made island monuments to themselves? The Horror!
They are the least of our worries, our Government is trying to destroy our
economy by means of higher fuel. Fuel is the heart of a growing economy
and our leaders are killing us slowly through the scapegoat EPA. Both Sides, but
especially the Democrats. Including the Democrats in the Republican party.

Honestly I see the Muslims as willing pawns to the players. They can turn off the problem anytime they want by nuking Mecca. What better of a proxy army than a bunch of 7th century savages that cannot even make airplanes?

That is why I said the Rockefellers are in bed with the Saudis.

Agreed. The people behind the great game have been at it for over 250 years.

That is why I said the Rockefellers are in bed with the Saudis.

IOW the other way around. Read Anetlman's books? I'm so with Barry Chamish on this one.

Frankly I see the Jihad as a spin off of the discovery of Bio-gasification technology. We can create oil out of bio mass, and the statement by scientists “that within 20 years only third world countries” will buy oil created the need for a world war to set up a one world government. Energy is the chains we are bound by, the invention of line interactive inverters broke those chains.

They got to crush technological innovation and fast, and the best place to start is America, the best way to do it is world war.

Same pattern, crush the economy and throw a war, roaring 20’s debauchery, 30’s depression, 40’s war.

Its roots go back to well before that.

We can create oil out of bio mass, and the statement by scientists “that within 20 years only third world countries” will buy oil created the need for a world war to set up a one world government.

Do that and we'll wreck the soil upon which the world food supply depends. We can't grow it all by hydroponics.

With the rest of your post I am in agreement.

Not burning forests, hydrocarbon trash. Convert trash to Syngas, catalyze into oil products. Produce 50% oil by mass. Nazi Germany fueled their war machine with this during the war when we cut off their oil supplies.

Convert trash to Syngas,

The soil needs the compost.

Nazi Germany fueled their war machine with this during the war when we cut off their oil supplies.

Then they were mining topsoil. They also converted coal to fuel. Seriously, this is a matter of mass flow in carbon cycling. You just can't add that much additional demand for carbon from the soil and not pay for it at the source. We're having enough trouble trying to feed a hungry world. What with China destroying their soil the demands will increase. We have PLENTY of geochemical oil and gas. Why add to the demand from soil?

" Oil independence - how can folks be against that? I hear that — hold onto your hats - California Governor ‘Moonbeam’ Jerry Brown has vetoed ALL anti-fracking bills, and wants to go full speed ahead with fracking in California. It will turn the economy around here - there is lots of oil. Clock is right 2x a day. "

Have to do a double take on that one....

WOW ! well now, for a change some sanity finally coming from California.
If they started this years ago they would be in the top producers in this county at near the top with Texas.
Hey California ? while your at it let those farmers water their crops instead of trying to save some tiny little fish....

The oil folks here is it possible that the USA could be the top oil producer in the world in a decade if California starts drilling for oil ?
Could the USA pay down it's national debt trading oil ?

I am fully aware of the Nature Conservancy shell game, to which you alluded earlier. I was merely pointing out that the Saudis appear to have a self interest here and a hand in dirty dealing. The gentleman who pointed out that self-interest was correct in doing so.

I’m not standing behind the 90% figure either. But you cannot discount the Saudis’ self interest.

I’m not discounting the racket the Eco-fascists have behind bringing lawsuits and then settling with the EPA (or whomever) behind closed doors in a meeting to which you or I would not be invited. I am well aware of what the Ford Foundation, the Tides Foundation, etc. etc. are doing.

Demonizing the Saudis is not the answer. I’ve come to the sad conclusion that we would need to demonize more than half our own population. To my eyes, America appears bent on national suicide.

Cheers.

lol, that would be NRDC, not TNC.

They're bit players, not anything close to 90%.

That was my point in taking issue with the assertion.
