You cannot nor will not prove it
The Catholic Church btw simply does not teach that the only way to salvation is through it
In fact what it does say is that Jesus was/is her for everyone not just Catholics
So you might want to get over pretending to know what yhe Chirch says about anything without looking at and reading tha Catechism
Honestly, the antocatholicism and willful ignorance of it on FreeRepublic is so hateful it is inbearable
Ths conversation is over
I am not Catholic, but I don’t trust anything the media says in regards to homosexuality. It is the biggest agenda currently and they twist anything someone says about it to fit the agenda.
Will let the dust settle and if the Pope feels he was misquoted or taken out of context he will correct it. I would urge you to not get upset about it. FR is full of people who jump too conclusions immediately on the first thread and some of them won’t change their minds because they have their own agenda. I am guilty of jumping to conclusions (we all are), but I am willing to say I was wrong later.
Do you not believe those who would deceive would Zimmerman the Pope? I know they would.
Yes it does, but considers all who have been baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit as members of the Church, although not in full communion with the her. From the Catechism:
1271 Baptism constitutes the foundation of communion among all Christians, including those who are not yet in full communion with the Catholic Church: For men who believe in Christ and have been properly baptized are put in some, though imperfect, communion with the Catholic Church. Justified by faith in Baptism, [they] are incorporated into Christ; they therefore have a right to be called Christians, and with good reason are accepted as brothers by the children of the Catholic Church.81 Baptism therefore constitutes the sacramental bond of unity existing among all who through it are reborn.
We believe, with Holy Mother Church, that there is no salvation outside of (the Body of) Christ.
Fine. Stew in your denial.
Did it EVER?
You need to sort that out with many of your fellow Catholic FReepers who insist that the RCC does teach that one has to be a Catholic to be saved. Your statements sound very reasonable and I do hope it is the case.
Back to this article. What I find interesting as I pursue all these posts is no one is picking up on the incorrect headline (in the article). The Pope never said "gay Priests", he said "gay". One can say - what difference does it make since "gay Priests" are a subset of "gay"? However I think it makes a lot of difference. The Pope seemed to be welcoming sinners into the Church and leading them to Christ. Gays are just sinners unless their hearts are hardened and they don't repent (which is the usual problem). He wasn't saying he is condoning Gay Priests leading the flock. That's a different thing all together. This is just another hit piece with the Pope helping them along with a loose comment. He will likely clarify that comment through others later.
