More than 120 people are believed to have been killed at a protest in support of Egypt's ousted President Mohammed Morsi, according to the Muslim Brotherhood.
Security forces are reported to have started shooting demonstrators shortly before pre-dawn morning prayers at a round-the-clock vigil in Cairo being staged by backers of Morsi, who was removed from power by the army three weeks ago.
Makeshift field hospitals around the area near the Rabaa al-Adawiya mosque were overwhelmed, with one doctor telling the BBC that more than 1,000 had been injured.

The army can’t get cold feet now, but the Muslim Brotherhood probably loves the headlines and pictures. The army needs to deliver a crippling blow to the MB before Obama and the rest of the Islamists force them to stop.
wth is going on? The Egyptian military used to be pretty patriotic and controlled, their officers educated in Europe and the US

This violence, and the military’s response, was as predictable as the rising sun. Yet, the rock-throwers are still busy throwing rocks. It can’t, at this point, be a surprise that the army is shooting back. Since rocks are unlikely to inflict damage why don’t they go home and think of another way to “protest?” The traditional Islamic bomb vest comes to mind. Is there some “face” here that I don’t understand? Perhaps somebody familiar with the culture can respond?
