Krauthammer’s Take: Christie’s Remarks on Paul ‘Electrifying,’ ‘Extremely Important Moment’
National Review ^ | 7/26/13 | NRO Staff

Charles Krauthammer described New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s attack on Kentucky Senator Rand Paul’s foreign-policy views “fearless,” “electrifying,” and “an extremely important moment.” Christie’s remarks touched off a kerfuffle between the two Republican politicians, both of whom are seen as contenders for their party’s presidential nomination in 2016. In Krauthammer’s words,

It was an extremely important moment. Rand Paul represents the sort of isolationist wing of the Republican party; by this direct, fearless attack on him by Christie, I think he takes up the mantle of the majority of the GOP, which is interventionist. And that’s a really important moment.

Hmmm where have I seen this before? I think there is another politician who goes after his competition by vilifying them with direct assaults in the press. Maybe it is another party too... I just can't think of it at the moment, but I am sure it will Alynsky... er ... come to me anytime now...

John McCain typifies the "interventionist-wing" of the Republican party.

Need I say more?

Sour Krauthammer hates the TEA Party people. He was merciless in ripping Sarah Palin and now Sen. Paul gets a lite version of the same vitriol. Krauthammer is one of the elites and looks down on anyone who has an opinion differing from his own.

“the majority of the GOP, which is interventionist”

Yeah, if you mean the ‘establishment/political elites’.

Since when were the ‘majority’ interventionist? And since when does it have to be either interventionist or isolationist?

I favor withdrawal from the UN, and a 90% cut on foreign aid.
But if a foreign country attacks us or harbors people who attack us, I support using any means necessary to liquidate them.

This is called the ‘sensible’ approach. You don’t have to be either the Mongolian empire or Bhutan. There’s ample room between.

Forgetaboutit, Charles. I know you DC fools love the Tubster Christie. I don’t.

And

I won’t vote for him ever. East coast liberal republicans have no path to win because, well, they suck.

Meanwhile Christie blows big wet kisses at a tyrant, Obama.

What a coward.

Given a choice betwixt Christie and Paul, I’m with Sen Rand Paul. He’s honest.

The neo-cons will not take defeat easily.

I do think that Rand Paul is not ready for prime time, although he does make a fine U.S. Senator and Chris Christie is wrong to single him out. Besides, from a conservative perspective, Christie is not exactly mainstream either. I also think Marco Rubio, who had been the consensus choice for VP in 2012, except of course Mitt Romney, has come up short when thrust into the national spotlight. On the other hand, Ted Cruz is looking real good on the national stage, and he has endeared himself to the Tea Party wing and has connections to the Bush Administration. I am thinking he might very well be the man to pull the factions of Republican Party together.

People in DC go to too many parties. Their brains pickle and get stuck on the last idea they heard about in the rumor mill.

Frankly, what with all their boulevards and scenic highways, it’s a wonder more of them aren’t out of gas somewhere by the side of the road by mid-day every Tuesday. They hide their gas stations like they were regional monuments. Gas in DC is best gotten at a federal pump somewhere. Otherwise, you must tranq yourself before pulling up to the gas station.

It’s pitiful when you think about the location of a hospital as soon as you see the price of gas there.

Yeah, but he may be right in saying this is an important moment. There will be others, if there is to be righteous rebellion against the elite GOP. If not, if the Tea Party just continues to fizzle and no viable conservative alternative emerges, then Krauthammer will be proven wrong, and this was a big nothing.

Interestingly, Rand Paul has never called Christie out, or anything. The elitists and liberals always show us exactly who they fear the most.

Honestly! What the heck is Kraut selling? Who the heck gets to decide what we stand for anymore?

The entire Republican party is utterly insane right now.

How I wish Rove would get the heck out of town, keep his fat bald head out of politics, which he continues to screw up.

Oh, and the way it sounds to me, we need not worry too much about Christie, it’s going to be that blow hard Jeb flying in under the radar.

I’m thisclose to renouncing my voting registration...

In the meantime, Egyptians get busy and bounces their tyrant out on his head -

krauthammer was born a dim... raised a dim... worked for mondale and carter and wrote speeches and campaign ads attacking Reagan. He is fun to watch and read but old charles is a progressive, abortion loving, fetal stem cell promoting drone of the left. He gets paid to play a Conservative. I also have a recording of charles and fred barnes going orgasmic over obama’s victory on election night 2008.
