PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Discount Gun Sales shop at 8118 SW Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway is closed Thursday night, following a reported robbery attempt.
Around 4 p.m. a man carrying a 9-inch knife and a baseball bat entered the gun shop and smashed a display case, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. His apparent aim? An unloaded semi-automatic handgun.

The store’s manager then grabbed his own gun. That gun, however, was loaded.
“The store manager called Sheriff’s Deputies and reported the man smashed a display case and removed a handgun,” according to a sheriff’s office news release. “The manager said he had his gun pointed at the robber, keeping him detained until the deputies arrived.”
The suspect has been identified by the sheriff’s office as 22-year-old Derrick Mosley.
“Mosley is lucky to be alive,” Ray said.
The 22-year-old has been arrested, and faces charges that include First Degree Robbery, First Degree Theft, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Second Degree Criminal Mischief. He’s being held at the Washington County Jail on $250,000 bail.

Maybe he thought he could use the element of surprise, i.e. the gun store workers would be so shocked by his robbing them with a bat, he could escape before they got over their shock.

About the only thing more stupid, I remember, is a guy who went into a gun store with a gun, but this was no typical gun store, it was one that had coffee for all its customer/guest, many of whom were police officers that like to gather than after their shift. That guy pulled his handgun and tried to rob the place and take some firearms. Almost immediately one of the employees and a number of off duty police officers had their weapons pointed at the potential thief. He was “more” lucky to have survived.
Perhaps the “DO NOT ROB” sign was written in cursive. That’s just not fair.

Especially when they dress in the attire of hoodlems. When young black males change their criminal-prone, in-your-face behavior, fear of them will recede.
Actually “gangs” and “gang culture” are a really big issue in our society.
If you heard the interview of Rachel Jeantel (Witness 8 or Trayvon Martin’s female friend “Dee Dee”) where she says that Trayvon wasn’t going to hurt Zimmerman, as Trayvon was just going to give Zimmerman a little Whoop-ass, that should help you understand how in some folks mind, breaking a guy’s nose, knocking him down and beating him isn’t considered something that warrants a deadly force response. She felt that Zimmerman should have known and been able to spot Whoop-ass for what it was.
It is that kind of “reasoning” that means we will never have a meeting of the minds with certain subcultures in this country.
I am reminded of a similar mind numbing discussion on how it is impossible for Blacks to be racist (heard someone with a PhD explain that one, once) and how many times have you read that gang member X shot gang member Z, because he “disrespected him.” It is a cultural divide.
As I was filling out the paperwork for my new big black rifle today, I told the gun shop guy about this. He had to stop for a while and catch his breath.

It most certainly does, but being racist at the white man’s expense is acceptable.
