What has changed in Gary since about the time US Steel closed their last operation there? The place has ALWAYS been a pit from somewhere deep in Hades, and while the situation today is almost insufferably terrible, still it has not changed much in some thirty or forty years.
And it still makes East St. Louis, Illinois, look good.
