~Favorite Songs about Men~
Neil Young Old Man
"Old Man" Old man look at my life, I'm a lot like you were. Old man look at my life, I'm a lot like you were. Old man look at my life, Twenty four and there's so much more Live alone in a paradise That makes me think of two. Love lost, such a cost, Give me things that don't get lost. Like a coin that won't get tossed Rolling home to you. Old man take a look at my life I'm a lot like you I need someone to love me the whole day through Ah, one look in my eyes and you can tell that's true. Lullabies, look in your eyes, Run around the same old town. Doesn't mean that much to me To mean that much to you. I've been first and last Look at how the time goes past. But I'm all alone at last. Rolling home to you. Old man take a look at my life I'm a lot like you I need someone to love me the whole day through Ah, one look in my eyes and you can tell that's true. Old man look at my life, I'm a lot like you were. Old man look at my life, I'm a lot like you were.

Kansas - Carry On Wayward Son
Refrain} Carry on my wayward son There'll be peace when you are done Lay your weary head to rest Don't you cry no more Once I rose above the noise and confusion Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion I was soaring ever higher But I flew too high Though my eyes could see I still was a blind man Though my mind could think I still was a mad man I hear the voices when I'm dreaming I can hear them say {Refrain} Masquerading as a man with a reason My charade is the event of the season And if I claim to be a wise man, well It surely means that I don't know On a stormy sea of moving emotion Tossed about I'm like a ship on the ocean I set a course for winds of fortune But I hear the voices say {Refrain} No! Carry on, you will always remember Carry on, nothing equals the splendor Now your life's no longer empty Surely heaven waits for you

This disc, issued in 1957, is super-rare and highly sought after by collectors. The flip side, an answer to
Sister Sookey by the Turbans, also fits this thread's theme--mentioning a "no good man" as well as two kings--Tut and Farouk.

You need the rain we're having but no longer need.
Amidst all our downpours we have had enough days over 90º to challenge the record.
Weather has been weird all over, hope you get that much needed precip.

That recording is from the last concert that Big Mama Thorton ever gave and it doesn’t even sound like her original. She was obviously very sick at the time, and could barely stand up. It was the best that I could find on the web, though. I had a CD that was a collection of Women Rockers that included the Big Mama version of Hound Dog, and it was really incredible. My husband took all my CDs though, to put into a shared I-tunes file and I have never seen them since. He keeps telling me that he knows where they are, but I am still waiting. If you are married, you probably know how that goes.
