LAS VEGAS -- They strolled into the auxiliary gym at Rancho High School with backpacks on and the message clear on their shirts: I AM TRAYVON.
Every player on Game Elite's 17U squad was donning the T-shirts during warm-ups and didn't remove them until it was time to tip. The AAU program based out of Atlanta first displayed the shirts Wednesday night, and per program co-director Ryan Falker, they'll wear the shirts before and after games for the duration of their stay for tournament play in Las Vegas this week.
"We all wanted to wear the shirts because, even though the right thing didn't turn out in court we wanted everyone to know we haven't forgotten about this," Avery Patterson said.
The team became emotionally connected to the Trayvon Martin story/George Zimmerman trial as it progressed into July. And while at an AAU tournament in Georgia two weeks ago, every player sat in one hotel room to hear the verdict late on a Saturday night. When George Zimmerman was found not guilty, the reaction from the team was emotional and intense, according to the players I spoke with.
"It really impressed me because I didn't realize how connected the team was to the story, the social issue, they were all informed," Falker said. "Just based off their emotions and reactions, I was trying to think of something we could do as a team to show a united front for that situation."
Falker, 38, said it was the idea of the players to make the shirts and wear them. Coaches and spectators alike noticed immediately on Thursday -- and Wednesday as well.....

Good point.
They used to be the governing body of track and field and long distance running.
And sponsored wrestling tournaments as well. I wrestled in several AAU meets, including the AAU Junior National tournament in Ashland, Ohio many years ago when I was 18 yrs old.
Speaking of which, my teammate & I decided to walk to our host family's house in the evening (approx 10 pm) rather than call for them to pick us up. As we walked home and past a McDonalds, there were 5 black thugs who started calling us names, then ran up and surrounded us. One of them lunged forward and sucker punched my wrestling teammate in the eye and then shouted out...."Ooooo I hit him in the eye". We took off running and my friend was barely able to see because of the punch to his eye. Somehow we got away from the black thugs.... but obviously we have the same problems with black thug criminals & gangs today, most likely even worse. Needless to say, my co-wrestler teammate did not do well in the tournament the next day and was quickly eliminated.
Our country has lost its way. . . its moral compass. The United States of America has been given over to a reprobate mindset.
I would love to be the announcer for that game.
“Trayvon for three!”
“Foul on Trayvon.”
“Trayvon to the line for a one-and-one.”
Etc.
“...even though the right thing didn’t turn out in court...”
Right thing what? That 17-yearolds can beat-up on other folks and not expect to get hurt or killed?
If these buffoons want any street cred, they should translate their phrase into thug ebonics: “I Is Trayvon”.
Or “I Be Trayvon”
How about my "I am George Zimmerman" t-shirt line?
Drugged up, dead, thug wanna-bes?
They be illin’ if they think their well-formed English sentence will prove they’re Down for The Struggle.
I can’t get the mil dots out of my eyes...
I'd bet a month's pay there's some of Vallerie Jarrett's OFA/Acorn flying monkeys behind this somewhere.
If they’re Tray-von they got liver damage. Bad liver damage from lean.
The one on the right looks like the Transporter hasn’t finished rematerializing him after beaming him back to earth.
An Italian and a, uh, I don't know. Irish-French??
Um, that’s Nicholas Cage on the shirt.
No, they are saying, “I'm down with with my fellow homey gang banger”
These guys know what TM was all about - and they are cool with it.
The Crips and Bloods Gangster mentality has permeated the Black community to such an overwhelming degree that it has become the dominant culture in a a majority of the Urban Black community
In their eyes , robbing and assaulting non Blacks is a legitimate career path and recreational activity so TM being shot is an occupational hazard issue for gang bangers.
They consider self defense by their intended victims and Stand Your Ground Laws to be an OSHA issue for themselves. As such, they are doing everything possible to repeal self defense laws and to intimidate potential victims so they are reluctant to defend themselves.
The now famous Rachel Jeantel summed up the pervasive mentality of entitlement to victimize non Blacks in large segments of the Black community brainwashed with a Ganster/Ghetto mentality that glorifies a violent criminal lifestyle perfectly when she casually dismissed GZ right to self defense by saying , yes, TM did attack GZ but but it was just unleashing a little whup ass against a Creeper Ass Cracka.
She literally and honestly could not understand what the big fuss was about gang banger unleashing a whup assing a cracka, because in her community that's a right not a privilege
Collectively, they also see the threat of riots and mass violence as a tool for extorting more entitlement s for themselves out of the larger population and , as they learned from a small group of armed of Korean shopkeepers during Rodney King, it's no fun to riot and pillage against even a vastly outnumbered yet armed population determined to protect themselves and their property.
In places like Florida with a large armed population
Arrogant attitudes United
