A man who authorities say was helped to safety — along with his wife and children — by George Zimmerman after a roll-over SUV crash in Seminole County last week is expected to speak to reporters today about the accident.
Mark Gerstle, who was driving the Ford Explorer when it overturned about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, will speak at the law offices of Zimmerman's attorney Mark O'Mara in downtown Orlando at 1:30 p.m., an O'Mara spokesman said.
According to the Seminole County Sheriff's Office, Gerstle's wife and two children were in the vehicle when he lost control on a State Road 417 off-ramp, traveling off the road and flipping on its side.
By the time a deputy arrived, Zimmerman and another man "had already helped assist the family by getting them out of the overturned vehicle," sheriff's spokeswoman Heather Smith said Monday.
"Zimmerman was not a witness to the crash and left after making contact with the deputy," Smith said in an emailed statement. "There were no reports of injuries to the vehicle occupants."

Oh my goodness! A report on an auto accident using an active voice verb with an actual subject! (It's a pronoun bereft of its antecedent, but hey, points for trying!) A vehicle with a driver who caused the accident!
OK, what changed his mind? Yesterday the family was afraid of the black racist community and their race baiters.
I am suspecting that he wants to do it on his terms, to assure that what he says doesn’t get sound-bitten to death, to assure that what he says gets reported in full and not what he doesn’t say.
The vile hatred will continue whether he says something or not — so why not say something like a public thank you to Zimmerman and my family and I were very grateful for his assistance — letting the thugs know that he cannot be intimidated into silence, and I’m sure O’Mara will add his weight to that.
I wonder what Trayvon Martin would have done in a similar instance?

I think he’s trying to make reporters go away...yesterday they were sitting outside his house lobbing questions at him when he arrived home. So there’s a minor circus in his neighborhood.
For starters, he probably would have lifted the wallets, jewelry and other valuables . . .
The media were all up and down their street and wanting to interview them and they probably believed it would be best to make one statement and be done with it. I am only surmising. They will probably start getting death threats directly after the news conference if they haven’t already.

So why should George stop being who he is and stop doing what comes natural to him, helping others?
