Breaking: Church Claims They'll Protest Judge's Memorial Service (Westboro Baptist Church)

CORPUS CHRISTI - A family-run church known to picket military funerals is threatening to protest a memorial service planned for District Judge Tom Greenwell.

The Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas issued the release this afternoon of their plans to be at the United Methodist Church on Shoreline Boulevard Thursday afternoon.

Greenwell committed suicide last Monday inside his office at the Nueces County courthouse. The sheriff's office is still investigating what led to his suicide.

A handwritten will was found that left everything Judge Greenwell owned to a 36-year-old man named Albert Fuentes. Greenwell told KZTV back in 2006 that Fuentes was like a son to him.

The Westboro Baptist Church has gained notoriety for staging protests at the funerals of service men and women killed in the war on terror. The church believes those soldier's deaths are God's punishment for what they call "the sin of homosexuality".

Traditionally, the Patriot Guard Riders of South Texas have come out to show support for the families at funerals where a protest is planned. A member of the organization says they've recieved no request in regards to the memorial service for Judge Greenwell.

Anyone up for a Freep against Fred Phelps this Thursday? Let's show the Westboro Baptist Church that they're no longer in Kansas!

They must be running low on funds. They haven’t been able to sue in quite a while.

Here’s a prime opportunity to round up the Westboro fags and dump them in the Gulf (or south of the border, a short drive from Corpus).

I’d like to see the Patriot Guard Riders show up. They know how to drown out the noise made by the WBC gang, if you know what I mean.

The liberal media love reporting on these kooks because they feed into the narrative of “nutty, hateful, church-goers.” They are nothing more than a handful of wackos who deserve to be ignored.

That would be about as difficult as infiltrating al Qaeda. Most of the members of the "church" are relatives of Fred Phelps. It's a pretty inbred group.

Well, I’ve got some connections. I’m sure an invitation could be arranged.

More than just a bunch of wackos. Fred Phelps was a friend of Al Gore. He even hosted a fund raiser for Gore during his 1988 run for the presidency. It's like Bill Ayers holding Obama's first fundraiser ever at his house.

These kooks threaten to protest everything under the sun and they announce their plans to do so on the website. Terrorism is part of their plan but they seldom show.
