The problem is that we have a number of conservative candidates and one moderate (Dole, Mcain, Romney). The conservative vote gets split, the moderate gets all the Establishment votes while our guys and girls get torn up.

What we need to do is have a run off primary with the top two candidates so the base of the party can have a voice.

Barone’s “prescription” is at minimum twelve years too late.

The GOP is dead, and we saw our last free and ‘honest’ national elections in 2008.

The GOP are become the Political Judenrat for the Democrat MarxoFascists. They hate what WAS the Conservative base of the party with a vehemence - and now we have gone Soviet in the shell game of giving the people an illusion they have a choice in who is crowned ‘leader’.

Washington is beyond fixing by any civil method, period.

Get rid of those destructive debates which only served to help the Obamacrats.

Though the reforms of the nominating process that began in the 1960s and '70s were intended to better represent the will of the voting public

That's your problem right there.

The "voting public" is comprised of idiots and low-commitment party "members".

It is reasonable that this "public" should participate in a final two-way choice in November, but it is completely UNreasonable that they should have a voice in the critical pre-November design of issues and choosing who is best suited to lead.

Primary elections don't belong in the GOP or whatever takes its place and should be abolished.

A problem we have is someone who is a liar coming in and talking like a Conservaitve, but he isn’t eligible nor is he a true conservatve.

I read through as requested. Do we need another nominating system only, or a new party that voices and carries through a Constitutional view of principles? The ordinary but perceptive and committed conservative does not seem to have much influence in local or state politics. How then national?
