"Scott will fight hard for middle class families and has the temperament and judgment to be extraordinarily successful," Gillibrand said in a statement.
Gillibrand called Stringer the "best choice" for the job.
"His experience as a trustee of the New York City Employee Retirement System, where he has helped to grow the city's pension funds and advance important shareholder initiatives around corporate governance, environmental stability and workplace safety positions him to be a great comptroller."
Stringer was reportedly seen as the frontrunner in the race for comptroller until Spitzer jumped in. Polls now show Spitzer leading.
Spitzer is attempting to revive his political career after he resigned from the governor's office in 2008 after admitting to soliciting prostitutes.
Gillibrand, then a member of the House of Representatives, was one of the first Democrats to call for Spitzer to resign. After Gillibrand was appointed to the Senate, Spitzer, according to CNN, criticized her, saying her positions were "too malleable."
Stringer said he was honored to have Gillibrand's endorsement.
"She has made New York proud with her leadership in the United States Senate, and I could not be more honored to accept her endorsement," Stringer said in response to the New York senator's endorsement.
Of course she wood.
Gillibrand is a tool.
Thanks neverdem.
